Amazing Spider-Man (1 and 2) tarnished the brand just enough that they couldn't sell yet another reboot on just Spider-Man alone, even if it's now set in the MCU. They needed some added oomph which shoving in RDJ more than provides.

God forbid that after 5 movies, they try something different and actually want people to know this is in the MCU. Personally I doubt Iron Man will even be in much of the movie, it seems more like marketing than anything.

It's not a big deal because Spidey is THE team up guy.
We've had plenty of solo Spider-Man movies, lets see him surrounded by the larger universe.

You audits make no sense. First it's "Why didn't Iron Man show up to help?" when a movie focuses on a solo character but now that one will feature another character in a supporting role you flip your collective shits.
