This weird implication that he's "trapped" otherwise he'll go broke overnight is fucking absurd. He isn't supporting a wife and three kids or paying off a mortgage, if there were ever a time for him to switch gears, it would be now.

There are some that are less intense, but it's still a gamble. You're an adult now though, so the effect won't be as intense nor dangerous as it'd be if you were a child. There are those that act as super-caffeine for focus but all drugs come with some side-effects.
