Maybe we're just entering the second lowpoint age akin to Hanna-Barbara/Ruby Speares era cartoons. Subpar animation quality, show and episode concepts being throwaway, and series being passed for the sole purpose of being able to put out merchandise based on it.
We're just gonna wait until the cycle hits the next stage and we get another animation renaissance.

Tough to discuss art with children. You don't know the difference between being grotesque and stylized on purpose from having NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE DOING.
There is no thought put into character design nowadays (other than everyone being a beveled cylinder), no in-universe consistency, it's just a bunch of Buses and Squirrels and Candy and Ducks and Tacos mixed in a pot and turned into some hypersaturated orgy of purple, blue and green.

Get some old Samurai Jack or PPG monsters for actually ugly but MEANINGFUL character design. And these are shows about monsters, unlike these new shows where it's just a lolsorandom universe with ordinary things like school and computers.

I think the people who make these shitty shows are pretty much like you: they've grown seeing "ugly cartoons" and instead of learning how to draw to do the same, relied on ugliness as the foundation for their artstyle.
