>God you're pretentious

He talks a whole lot of shit for being a rapist
>>
But he's not a pretentious rapist.
>>
>new family guy
into the trash it goes
>>
>that one episode where he fucks an underaged girl but doesn't have to go to jail because his mother fucks the judge
BRAVO FAMILY GUY
>>
>>92573128
Are you implying that the old family guy was any better?
>>
Has Quagmire just suddenly realized he lives in a world where being pretentious is not only common, but commonly accepted?
>>
>>92573160
yes
>>
>>92573110
That's the point though.
>>
>>92573110
The scene is basically Seth MacFarlane talking to himself through two of his characters.

Shut the fuck up, you faggot.

>>Having consensual sex with droves of women
That's not that part that make him a rapist.

It's all the women he has roofied that does.
>>

>he was mostly just sarcastic with a dry wit
Stewie basically take that role now.

He might be the one character to have improved.
>>
>>92573356
Irony has become a no-no because of it's overuse.
Being sardonic and aloof is equalled to pretentiousness. There's currently an obsession with being "real" without people being able to define what it means.
>>
>>92573160
It was by fucking miles though. Not amazing, mind you, but it would've certainly been looked back upon as a classic if they just left it at 3 seasons.

>Tries to give a holier-than-thou speech to Brian, including shitting on him for wanting to fuck Lois
>>

It was a LOT better. For one, the jokes didn't use shock humor as a crutch, the show just happened to be aimed at adult audiences.

So you don't watch the show then.
>>
>>92573256
maybe in very early episodes when they were all still human, but now its cannon that Peter habitually physically and emotionally abuses Meg, and there was this running joke for a while that he has a huge collection of child porn. Everybody in the show is some kind of horrific criminal now because it's easy to write.

Actually since 2 years back Peter and Meg actually have a great relationship for the most part, it's basically Meg and Lois that have this spiteful relationship where Lois hates everything about her and Meg has just given up and doesn't treat her with any love or respect.

Along with that random episode where they didn't even try to give Stewie a legimitate grievance with Meg.

/pol/ are a bunch of self-hating jews

Definitely Herpes.
Even that brian/stewie hybrid episode that people often bring up isn't that bad because the gore is over the top cartoonish instead of just horrible like Herpes. Also, the offhand cruelty of that episode kind of reminds me of Beautiful Darkness, one of my favorite comics.
>>
>>92573110
It wouldn't have been so bad if it was just a one and done thing. Or like Brian had done something to quagmire where he started off alright but just made him more and more upset as the episode went on, leading up to the rant.

But instead they made it one of those rare and weird moments where the show likes to keep continuity. Didnt' really help that for the longest Quagmire was throwing the first punch in the feud,

Hepres. It's bad enough that I'm being assaulted with disgusting shots of the sores, the sub-plot involving Peter is insufferable too. The one where Quagmire's sister is being abused by her boyfriend. The most offensive FG episodes for me are the ones in which they try to be serious, an unfortunate habit they have when it comes to wrap up what little story is in the episode. But that particular one was just misguided to an embarrassing and enraging level.
>>
Here's the fucking thing though:

Brian still has the moral high ground.

Brian's experiences with women are pathetic, sure. He's egotistical and condescending, looking down on people he believes are "dumber" than him, which often bites him in the ass more often than not. There's no denying that his blatant atheistic viewpoint and virtue-signaling can get on people's nerves. However, these traits always bring about some sort of humbling experience, forcing him to either change his ways or accept the consequences of his actions. It what makes him a well-intentioned, but ultimately flawed character.

Quagmire, on the other hand, almost never faces those consequences. His actions are either hand-waved or excused as him "being Quagmire", followed by a quick non-sequitur and a return to the main story. His flaws are viewed as comedic, something the audience is just supposed to accept. And even when they are brought to bear, it's usually in such a way as to highlight a greater problem, like society's current ills or some other global phenomenon.

Frankly, it wasn't until that episode that I realized just how hypocritical it was for Quagmire to criticize anyone, let alone Brian.

Everything he says in that speech is a projection of his own faults:

His treatment of women.
His adoration of his best friend's wife.
His estranged relationship with his family.
His refusal to accept the outcome of his own decisions.
And, most of all, his condescension towards everyone and everybody that isn't him.

In other words, he's the "Trump" of Family Guy.
>>
>>92574983
Quagmire is part Japanese though.
>>
>>92585587
That isn't true, he said that to prank Peter and Joe on a Kamikaze maneuver.
>>
>>92581248
>"Sorry officer I thought the speed limit was 95 instead of 30, and someone spray-painted NOT A before "school zone" on that sign."
>"Oh okay, carry on."
>>
>>92581811
Joe doesn't have any obvious problems with Brian. Until his sole defining character trait became "the cripple" instead of "the nice guy who is good at everything and gets really pumped up even though he's in a wheelchair" Joe and Cleveland were the only nice guys in the group.

Now Joe is just the cripple, but he's still somewhat the nicest of the group, while Cleveland is the retard who happens to be black. Even if he did have a problem with Brian he might be too nice to come out and say it.
>>
>>92586127
If the show was a bit better, I could see a pretty good breakdown of modern liberals by using Cleveland fighting Brian. Cleveland is upset that Brian treats him like a prop or that Brian treats black people as children not responsible for their own actions while Brian is angry that Cleveland is 'intentionally misunderstanding' him because he's simply too proud to accept help or something.
>>
>>92573256

the idea that galileo's christianity is what made him a scientist is silly.

>>
>>92573110
Why does /co/ get so butthurt at this scene?
>>
>>92573110
Nobody likes being harassed but that's what Brian did to Quagmire, instead of accepting that some people just won't like you because of X, Y and Z(a lesson most of /co/ hasn't learned) he tried to win over someone that he never paid any attention to until this episode. He basically pushed Quagmire from quietly hating him into being pissed off at him because if he didn't go off on him he'd never buzz off .
>>
>>92573110
I got this from youtube. This basically shows that Brian isn't that shitty while Quagfag does some of the most sinister shit possible. This shit was pretty stupid.

Man, Quagmire is a jerk and a hypocrite.

>"This is how your repay him?"
Says the one who has constantly been hitting on Lois for years and even got arrested for watching her going to the bathroom. And also tricked his other best friend into allowing him to have sex with his wife.

>"You defecate all over his yard"
I'm pretty sure that's what all dogs do.

"You pretend to date women for their souls"
That's better than being a total dick to women in general and throwing them out after one night.

>"At least I'm honest about it."
No you're not, you drug women with rohypnol and rape them and trick them into having unprotected sex with you and even sexually assault women.

>"But later never comes"
he just paid dinner for you.

>"What have you done to help?"
He held a whole parade to encourage legalization of marijuana, started a petition to overturn ban on gay marriage and he supported Peter in his fight against censorship. That's more than you ever did.

>"Because religion is for idiots"
He never said that actually. All he has done so far is pointing out hypocrisy in religion, how religious organizations have exploited people's ignorance and that he doesn't like how people kill each other over religion.

>"Failure as a father."
Says the one who deliberately ignores ALL his children and dumps all women after getting them pregnant. At least Brian made his son a better person.

>"How's that son of yours you never see?"
How's that daughter of yours you never see and refused to take responsibilities for?

everyone in KOTH is a criminal

Hank blew up the Mega Lo Mart, blew up a car lot, bought crack, pimped, among other crimes

Peggy killed a meat mogul, almost killed Randy Travis, kidnapped a Mexican girl, among other crimes

Bobby made meth, burned down a church, among other crimes

Luanne helped kill the meat mogul, among other crimes

Dale burned down the fire station, engaged in multiple criminal enterprises with his Mexican criminal friend, among other crimes

Bill stole a tank from the army base and destroyed half of Arlen, among other crimes

Boomhauer, despite being a Texas Ranger, was complicit in or otherwise ignored crimes committed by his friends

Cotton committed grand theft auto, assault, covered up Bobby burning down the church, among other crimes

Buck Strickland framed Hank for murder and planted evidence, among other crimes

even Connie covered up Bobby's drug crime. there wasn't one character on this show that wasn't a criminal in some form, yet no one ever had to face any consequences for it
>>
>>92586127
>Joe doesn't have any obvious problems with Brian

until Brian fucked Bonnie and they ran away together
>>
>>92588170
I think the intended point was that we weren't supposed to take sides, so if it was Joe vs Brian, everyone would side with Joe, for example. I've heard people call it "A more cerebral version of the giant chicken" where you're not really rooting for one side, you're just enjoying the show.
>>
>>92589391
These aren't played for laughs though, these crimes (half of which you deliberately or ignorantly misrepresented) are usually done in desperation or accidentally as a gag. Hank buying crack and just being clueless about it because he's so straight laced was a gag. Bobby helping a girl he wanted to impress make meth without realizing what it was was a gag. Even Peggy and Luann killing the pig guy was a (very dark) gag, he was insane and attacking them, it's not like they deliberately planned his murder. Same with Hank and Bobby, once it dawned on them what was up they were horrified and more than eager to make things right.

In Family Guy someone will get a limb chopped off, fall over with one arm draped behind their back, and the shot shows them bleeding out for seconds, and that's the gag.
>>
>>92585364
I had no problem with that episode since it was actually a brilliant callback to the episode with Brian getting called out by Quagmire (there was a bit where Quagmire mistakes the sister for a one night stand Quagmire roughed up).

That said, the only real problem with the episode was that Brian wasn't the one who saved Glenn when the murder plot failed. Which would have given them a way to fix the problem with the episode with Glenn shitting on Brian via having Brian FINALLY gaining Glenn's friendship by saving his life and the life of his sister.

>>
>>92577669
Yes but Bender is one character. Anon was asking whether there were other shows where [all or most of] "the main characters are sick criminals"

Simpsons is pretty tame. Homer can be described as a sick criminal, particular in seasons from the mid 2000s (couldn't tell you if the trend stayed into the present, I stopped watching around 2008/9) but Lisa, Bart, and Marge break the law fairly infrequently and usually do it for a single joke/episode rather than being characterized as being horrible degenerates.

Futurama has Farnsworth and Bender as obvious criminals; Leela and Zoidberg probably do a bunch of illegal things too but aren't 'sick' or intentionally wicked, Fry and Amy are both pretty innocent (morally at least).

I'm just waiting for that ep. Brian deserves it. He MARRIED her, for crap's sake. He deserves at least one shag.
>>
Why does Lois not want Brian? They're way more compatible together than they are with anyone else.

Well, before they both turned into irredeemable shits at least.

Brian is just a hypocrite when it comes to women, he acts all liberal and respectful but is pretty judgmental and shitty about them deep down, from their looks to their intelligence. Meanwhile he's actually pretty average, even as a writer he's not very talented and his intellect is nothing but typical progressiveness and ivory tower interests. He's had a few "girlfriends" in the series but I don't really think any of them were very amazing women, it seems he punches down in the dating department since I've never felt mad at him for being shitty to most of the women he's been with. Mostly because they weren't very spectacular or good as people. I think he wanted to go after Meg's friend Patty once but even then that was just creepy of him.

I'm not the history buff I used to be, but I think the rise of Christianity was more the result of declining social and political order than the other way around. It would be interesting to see how world history would have turned out without Christianity (and, by extension, Islam as we know it).

gonna have to agree with this anon. Family Guy was utter shit to begin with. I'm honestly surprised how many people here defend it. It was empty, soulless, and ugly in every sense of the word from the very first episode.
>>
>>92573160
It was mediocre, but still leagues better than the modern family guy trash that is made today.
>>
>>92596661
What made it soulless in your opinion?
>>
>>92596794
I always got this feeling when I watch the show that I'm being condescended by it. There is no intellectual dialogue happening between the writer and viewer, rather just a disorganized collection of ideas that are controversial and offensive just for the sake of being controversial and offensive, rather than provoking any kind of real thought or emotion.

There is no character development whatsoever and nothing that makes you interested in the characters as the people they're supposed to represent. In place of that, we have instead endless meandering references to other shows that are always taken in some predictably violent, sexual or otherwise vulgar or cruel direction. The "characters" are just a vehicle to get to these irrelevant and unentertaining moments.

The show is also utterly hideous to look at and it is clear to me that nobody involved in it has any creative passion other than to impress you with cheap shock value like a middle school kid who just learned a curse word.

It simply does not come off to me like a show that was made with any intention of actually relating to its audience; but rather to appeal to the most base, primal emotions of being shocked by something pointlessly hateful and ill-natured (not to mention completely irrelevant) that only children and unintelligent people will still find amusing after the third or fourth time.

But that's just my opinion. I respect your opinion whether you agree with me or not, and to be fair every hundred or so jokes it got a smirk out of me, but that is my honest opinion on Family Guy.
>>
>>92591106
He is wrong because its not even that he just called him a pretentious bore, he called him out on a bunch of things quagmire does as well
>being a dick to women
>trying to sleep with lois
>Distancing himself from family
>not raising his children well or at all

If his point had only been "brian is a pretentious and snobby bore" that would have been fine, but adding the rest there kills it because it makes quagmire a hypocrite.

Its not about being an "apologist". Brian is a shit character, but he didnt used to be quite as shit, quagmire has always been a shit character willing to do pretty horrible things, anyone old enough to remember this is probably going to call bullshit when the writers try and pass them off as equal.
>>
>>92573110
Given all of Quagmires faults maybe the entire scene was just 2meta4U
>>
>>92595888
The dark ages were a very loosley defined period during the fall of the classical Roman empire and it's split into West and East empires with a lot of the old western territories falling into the native kingdoms and 2 major Goth kingdoms.

It was called dark ages by a few historians who believed that the classical antiquity or Rome at it's peak and Greece before Rome invaded were the peak of human civilisation. Not everyone agreed, but the name stuck. It's also why the term Gothic Architecture is a thing, originally it was an insult to buildings that didn't look Greco-Roman enough.

Christianity at the time with the Pope became a focal point for many of the warring kingdoms to set down rules of how they fought, who was entitled to the crowns they fought over and generally stopped a lot of major bloodshed and from everyone falling back to pre-roman tribes and bartering trade. The Monks and Abbeys were also the ones responsible for first maintaining the old records, history, manuscripts and learnings. Passing them onto the next generation. And later they were the forefront of new studies and scientific research until the wealth of the Renaissance allowed private institutions and persons to do their own research. The idea being that they knew the bible was parables and not 100% literal and wanted to understand HOW God created everything the way He did. And that mean research with the scientific method.

The thing is if you can prove within reasonable suspicion you thought she was legal, you can't be sentenced for that.
I remember a few years ago someone a town over fucked some chick who turned out to be 16 he met at a bar. She had a fake ID and everything, her parents found out and tried to have the guy put in jail.
Judge struck it down because she had met the guy at a bar with a fake 21 year old ID.

Now if you meet someone online who's "totally 18" and don't get some ID beforehand, and fuck em, you're probably fucked.

The Dark Ages only really define a period after the Roman Empire fell and the whole Western world lost its central pillar huge civilization as its backbone and was scrambling to figure out what to do.

Also there was the plague, but if I remember right the Dark Ages and the plague don't align 1:1 by time period.
>>
>>92598896
The plagues happened due to a rise in cities, if you specifically mean the Black Death, that occured near the end of the "Dark Ages" that lead into the High Medieval period that led into the Renaissance.

…No, people like YOU are the reason Trump is president. Projecting your lack of self-confidence onto others in order to make your own empty life feel like is has meaning is EXACTLY the kind of weakness that allows men like him to take advantage of you and others like you.

I couldn't give a DAMN about Hillary's emails, or her connections to Soros for that matter. But I guess actually believing in the government makes me part of the "ignorant masses", am I right?

How 'bout you drop the act, tough guy—one way or another, Drumpf's gonna fuck you in the ass. And no amount of hipster contrarianism's gonna save you from that.

The Church brought to trial/locked up Galileo primarily because Galileo wrote a slam piece on a high ranking authority. It was justified because the church and academic community didn't believe he had enough hard evidence (he didn't for that matter, it was Kepler's work that provided definitive proof) to teach heliocentrism as nothing more than a distant possibility. This was after he had been censured and let off for teaching the theory as indisputable fact a few times, so the one that lead to house arrest was basically his fifth strike or so.

He was also retarded enough to leave the political safety of Venice (where his most supporting patrons, clerical and secular, held power) and attempted to play up his celebrity in Florence as a political game. As it turned out, a scholar was not adept at playing the political field.

For the longest time people couldn't even read the bible but folowed the faith. You can easily understand why christians would be so fucked up despite having a religion.
