It was pretty good. I like that they weren't very effective but just barely doing enough to distract him. Aku used his powers pretty dang well.

My only gripe with the ending was that it seemed against what they were setting up to just have Jack go back in time and win. Giant Aku unphased by the tiny barrage of explosions was great. I also loved Aku raining down tiny blades of black akuness.

The whole fight reminded me of why Aku was so great. Sure you could physically push him around if you're big enough (Giant robot samurai) but he is effectively immortal. Any battle with him is for his own pleasure, when he gets bored he can destroy you with ease.

His fatal mistake was giving his Akuness to another. It's the only reason he was destroyed. Solid ending.

It needed to be an hour-long special, there was just too much going on for a regular episode which really fucked with the timing of the beats and made everything feel rushed.
The "moments" needed were there but they just did not have the necessary fleshing out to get any "weight" for when they hit, nor did they have any chance to sink in before the next thing was already rolling in.

I can take the final episode as good set of cliff notes of how the story ends but that's about it.

Can we still get that Samurai Jack movie? A fleshed out version of the finale?

The animation was pretty low quality in some places, for example when the Spartans were attacking and it was literally identical blobs of shape with just their spears moving. It wasn't even done in a stylised way because the Akus were drawn properly

It was pretty cool. After a rewatch it was better than the first time. I wish Jack had gotten have more screentime for slashing and dicing, but it was still fun.

The Aliens that really needed earth were probably failed species anyway, they later formed an alliance though, and decided to invade earth-like planets they called themselves, the /co/venant.

I enjoyed the final battle. I thought it was fun, and I was giddy the whole time.

Personally, I would have had it end with Aku losing his shit to an even greater degree, killing all of Jack's friends and allies on-screen, and using his magic to lay waste upon the world as a whole before Ashi turns on him and takes Jack back to the past.

Not just for grimdark, mind you - but to make us feel less guilty about Jack erasing the timeline when he and Ashi go back to the past. If we know that everyone in Aku's Future dies horribly, being erased seems almost merciful, that he spared them from a horrible fate.

The scene with the fish people (you know, the one where Aku sent the uppity son to the pit of hate) implies that a lot of the aliens are on earth is because Aku fucked up their planet, forcing them to relocate. Plus, other aliens are just scumbags like the Afro-Russian alien in season 5.

Do we know how far Aku's future is from Jack's time? For all we know, it could be tens of thousands of years. So aliens could come to earth anyways, just in happier circumstances.

I think the main reason Aku even has minions in the first place is because he isn't omniscient, so he needs minions to fuck innocent people over when he can't be around to do so himself.

Why would he need robots and henchmen hanging around when he can just instantly create minions like he did with the archers and elephant guys?
