Honestly when Jack made it back with Ashi I was just like "Ok Gennedy, I know the exact ending won't be particuallry good or satisfying, but lay it on me, I'm ready". Then cue Ashi dropping mid-wedding.

I'm just glad to have seen this series end, and to do so with /co/ memes and all.

I liked the ending, though simply killing Aku in the future to avoid Ashi dying and staying in the future would have also been a good ending. Seeing Jack go back to the old scene where Aku first sent him to the future was cool though, and ultimately means Jack prevented the suffering Aku caused.

9/10 as a whole season.

I'm sorry but we're going to need a MASSIVE director's cut of the ending episode. I honestly thought the ending itself was fine, but holy shit, I don't know how the fuck CN looked and said: "yeah this didn't need to be an hour".

The emotional beats would have struck with me amazingly well if they had more time to settle in. But it didn't. Jack is all about the slower moments and letting them sink in and this episode went by so quickly, I know I wasn't the only who had to have felt: "That's it?".

Still I'm thankful we got this season at all. I just really want to know the production behind this season. It definitely felt kinda off to me.

That's the ending I was hoping for. No means of returning to the past, but defeats Aku in the future and prevents further suffering. The fact that he couldn't prevent it all would have been the bitter in the bitter-sweet ending I would have liked. This is how I would've rather the fight happened.

Then it fast forwards into the future to show modern day equivalents of everyone he saved. Maybe a modern day Ashi and her sisters learning about an ancient samurai who banished evil and stare at awe at the museum exhibit of his sword.

In all honesty, I thought the ending would go something like this
>Episode is stretched to about fourty-five minutes, allowing everything that needs to be there to be there, like in Birth of Evil

Ashi was a plot device to have a wedding at the end. If Ashi had been killed they still had the girl from Jack's childhood for that purpose. The bittersweet moment could have been Jack remembering the good people that existed in the future as he walked the restored Earth seeking the places he visited in the future.

And if not, Ashi's romance could have been done in one or two episodes at most, because it felt rushed anyways and people would bitch about it no matter what, that leaves you space to do something with everyone who appeared out of fucking nowhere in the end like the spartans and the Scott's. He could have done one episode to increase Aku's ruthlessness and cruelty, he could have done many things, but he didn't do shit and this is the result. A shitty ending he made up while he was taking a shit.

I'm feeling pretty empty, myself. It's not that I didn't like the finale, though it was definitely rushed, I just don't feel... Much of anything.

I'm not angry and unsatisfied. But I'm not happy and relieved either. I just sorta feel nothing.

Genndy DID say the end would feel bittersweet, but this is more like novocain.

I mean, overall, this final season was a solid 8.5 for me. Hit a lot of the notes of the original 4 seasons; action, comedy, drama, spaghetti and more. But knowing it's over, I dunno. Jack's memories of Ashi will eventually vanish, as Ashi never existed if Aku never lived to reproduce

Big one:

Jack and Ashi arrive in the past AFTER Aku has already sent past Jack into the future. Aku dies in the past and never lives to reproduce, Ashi never exists, so Jack is sent to an Aku-less future with no Ashi to make him a portal. So this could never actually happen, as the timeline where Ashi exists and discovers she's the daughter of Aku and goes back in time would cancel itself out the moment future Jack kills Aku.

All this is just loading, just as Ashi vanishing lag a little. Soon future Jack will reappear in the future fighting with Ashi against Aku again.

It's impossible to go back in time to defeat the person that sent you to the future when the person that helped you go back to the past is dependent on the person who sent you to the future.

You know what would have been a good ending? If they go the past and stop Aku from sending past-Jack from being thrown into the past and Ashi, future-Jack and past-Jack (who is visibly confused as fuck) defeat Aku. They explain things to past-Jack, and future-Jack and Ashi look into each other 's eyes, kiss, and vanish from existence together. The events leading to the future where he is born have been undone.

you know, the moment ashi attacked jack and the scotsman keep talking, i realized genndy wouldn't show any kind of closure to the future characters and probably didn't even consider that. they always were meant to be just fodder to the "real" friends from jack's past. like the narrative equivalent of an army of joke characters comically trying to help the actual, fleshed out main couple.

i'm kind of loss at words and i don't know if i explained myself very well, but did anyone else felt this way?
