Continuing from yesterday's thread, we'll be finishing up the second half of SHATTER. As before, it'll be a first time read through for me.
Starting off with with issue #8. Previous thread here >>92512285

It's sad, isn't it? Sad, but expected.

Penultimate issue. Here's hoping I can finish them both before having to go out.

Thanks for the bump.
thanks again for posting, i have the first bound edition i got in '90, but had no idea there was more

Thanks for reading, and for the bump. Until yesterday, I didn't have any idea that it even existed so you knew more than I did.
I wonder if they ever bound the rest. Probably not.

FUUUUCK I bought the first couple of issues of this because I saw it advertised in Nexus and Grimjack, purely for the novelty, and by God if my comic-reading mates and I didn' take the piss out of it mercilessly. We even composed an imaginary theme tune for the comic. This masterpiece really gave us hours and hours of inane, childish laughter, accompanied by Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap and DJ Polo and early Gang Starr albums. Fun times.
It hasn't gotten better with age.

The novelty of the art is wearing off and I thought the story started out promising, though these later issues aren't that great. Still, it's a pretty neat little oddity.
Colours have been the best thing about it.
>>92545906
Looks like it'll be a repeat of yesterday. There's one issue left but I have to head out for a bit before I can finish it.
If this thread is still up, I'll drop the last issue when I get back.
>>92545949
OK.
>>92545609
>>92545824
Yeah, the story actually starts out well, even if it was unapologetically a poor man's Blade Runner. Once the creative team changes a few issues in and especially once the second arc starts it looses direction.
>>92545824
The coloring in this is fascinating. Like it's easy to see how the line work was done, but the colors actually seem retardedly ahead of their time given that digital coloring didn't become the standard until Image came along in 1992.
>>92545949
Alright, let's finish this thing.
Thanks for your patience.
>>92548511
>>92547661
It really is. I kind of want to see what the physical copy looks like because the colouring is legit fantastic, especially for the time.
>>92548552
>>92547608
My thoughts exactly. Started out decent enough, despite being pretty derivative. Obviously it was coasting more on the gimmick if the digital art than anything else. But it wasn't bad, just okay.
I can see why they never bothered to re-print anything behind the first part, because it loses steam really quickly.
>>92549998
Last page.
>>92550054
Not much of an ending, gotta admit.
Still, it's an interesting look back at a piece of largely forgotten comic book history. We've come a long way since then.
Thanks for reading with me.
bumping for OP

the first volume was pretty good, but the rest is kinda a hot mess. Good read anyway

This comic is way better without color
>>92558560
Where have you seen it without color?
>>92558690
There's a collected version of the first few issues with the original artist in black and white
>>92559026
Did that come out from First or did another publisher acquire the rights?
>>92558452
I'm tempted to save this, but I have no idea when I'd ever repost it.
Thanks, OP.
