wat a crazy ass fucking thread this is. First off Im white so lets get that privelge out of the way. So lets just say that this is probably going to be DC's Luke Cage, but hes older, a family man and used to be a hero before he retired. Ill admit it does look cheap in some places but so did Flash season 1. I like the CW stuff but its not AAA material, i do like how they usually show the lighter side of DC (at least thats how it feels to me). Always thought Black Lightning was really cool because sure he has powers but he can still be shot and die. Im sure there will be a mini crossover maybe like the first supergirl one or the flash musical. Or it will be even smaller. But really i wish he actually had black lightning. Maybe he gets pissed at the end of the season and it becomes more intense or some shit?

Feels a bit more adult than most CW fare. Can see why it was first shopped to Fox. Doesn't seem like they tweaked a whole lot to cater to CW's general audience. Worried where it'll find it's audience there. It just feels a bit out of place. Sure CW has become THEE funny book adaptation network, but even still it feels a bit too old and maybe too urban. Will have to wait and see how big a role the daughters will play. It's piqued my interest enough to marathon the first episode at least.

Black Lightning is actually one of the more interesting takes on your generic hero archetype. He remains grounded and is constantly tested by the world he tries to save. Unlike another character like Superman or Batman, his humanity is embraced through his overly fatherly disposition. Fitting that his alter ego is the principle to a high school, because that's exactly how he acts when he fights crime. Black Lightning war is one of ideologies which in my opinion makes him all the more easy to relate to
