Teaser misled me. Thought it was going to be generic kiddie crap.
For real?
I didn't watch it because I thought it would be all 3D.

it's like reverse of this

It made me think it was actually going to be great instead of just mediocre.

Mostly 2D, maybe 10 minutes of it is 3D, all of it bretty gud
>>92408205
This is a good one
>>92408302
I wonder if they made that 10-minute scene because the studio said they can't market a 2D movie

i was wondering how could 2d woo audience again, the cgi allows animation of multiple objects at same times (characters walk down the street, you can see bus passing by, flying birds in the background etc)
what if there was an effective way to animate 2d things on layers?

On paper, flash animation should allow for things like that. In practice, it's mostly just used as a shortcut.

i know it's not about tool, it's about skill and effort.
someone needs to work on this, instead of relying on that 'paperman" techique, which is nothing more but polished cellshading.

Wakfu uses a bizarre hybrid of 2D and 3D animation that looks amazing, but doesn't really have the budget or talented animators to take full advantage of it (the animation itself often looks choppy). I'd love to see a major studio try that style.

yeah, ankama is great example, you can see their animation improving with each new project.

I don't think it's the animation style fault, I think the typical american audience sees 2D as a lesser artform not worth paying for
They're fucking wrong but I don't think there's anything you can do
