This is not so crazy considering in the 90s we got a Xmen/Star Trek crossover

The Guardians of the Galaxy guys team up with uhh Rey and BB8 and the black guy and that storm trooper that was a meme for a bit to stop whoever was the antagonist of that Whedon xmen arc from building a death star to fire giant bullet at the earth at the command of Ghost Palpatine.
