I would say just turn off your brain, and have a good time. Star always keep it interesting whether it's adding something for you to think about her past, to watching her literally messing up her and other timelines. You have to remember that the show is gererally aimed for a younger audience, but if you just accept it, you'll have a good time.

ive been enjoying it. first season seemed like it was gonna be star vs wacky jobbers then it mixed up the formula with toffee. If you really, REALLY want the answer, I think its a show with a lot of good jokes both visual and verbal but absolutely intolerable characters. I honestly can't stand Star. I don't care how 'cute' she is or how sad it is when she suffers. She's an intolerable brat and I feel like if any of her fans met someone like her in real life, they'd want to bash their own skulls in because she's basically a magical preteen valley girl. Marco just becomes an unconscious harem protagonist later on. He's far more likeable in the first episode, and degrades to a far more generic personality. There's not necessarily anything wrong with him, I just can't find anything particularly outstanding about him either. Them being the main characters is what hurts the show the most for me, and honestly I feel if they weren't so brutally obnoxious than I actually could enjoy Star vs. Because like I said, the visual gags and jokes are really up there in terms of quality.

The episode that immediately comes to mind was the Best Buy parody episode, which I just could not stop laughing at even if I saw the conclusion coming a mile away. It's clever writing in the service of not-so-cleverly done characters.

I've watched up to Starcrushed but I can admit there are a few episodes I have not seen. I still didn't feel much for her character. Maybe its that even as she grows as a character, she continues to stay in this mental state of Lisa Frank idiocy. The character as a whole just completely fails to appeal to me. OP here again.i dozed off for a while because i had an exam.
I dont like star vs but i asked because i was really curious. I wasnt complaining that the show didnt have big fucking complicated stories but it stuck to me that there where threads comparing it to fucking dark souls.i know it was shitposting but then people i followed on YT actually said it had good lore.
So far most of the lore seems to be reduced to the princesses and the monsters, but i kinda wish we had seen more of the monster world than just Toffee and ludos family.Doesnt help that most of the monsters are reduced to jokes.

I guess what I mainly like about the later episodes is that now the show itself is acknowledging "Star is a fucking idiot who keeps fucking up, the worst Star in every universe, literally everything she does nowadays endangers the lives of herself and her loved ones." She is an idiot, but I'm looking forward to her growing out of that and that's the appeal of her now, for me.

In the first season it felt like they were playing that kind of behavior as just cute or funny and nothing else, and so I couldn't take her seriously at all. Especially when they'd have Marco apologize a lot for her own fuckups.

I like them taking that and turning it on its head, basically. It's not her personality in itself that I like so much as what they're actually doing with it toward the larger plot: someone who's an incredible prodigy at magic who's also a dumb teenager with shitty tendencies, whose emotions only make things more dangerous for everyone through their connection to her magic.

I guess it's like the inverse of the first season for me and I think it's handled really well. I feel like they wouldn't have imagined doing anything like that with her earlier.

I think there's a point where just the first season can't be used as representative of the entire thing, now that the second was almost twice as long and we have two more seasons in the future.

Like, yeah, the first season in isolation doesn't have much lore (though there was some stuff that got expanded on in the next season so it's not like nothing at all mattered), but they've done everything they could to tie events from then into the lore now.

Clearly there's some old animosity between mewmen and the waterfolk, based on there being weird old laws about how if you've harmed a merperson you can't rule Mewni (sounds like a peace treaty clause) and Star's casual racism and prejudice against them in the book - and combined with the Waterfolk Kingdom in the map being right there next to the Butterfly kingdom on Mewni and apparently having had their beaches polluted (Garbage Beach - remember Marco's brochure for prime janitor of garbage island in mr candle), and also with the show ramping up the political machinations, there's a high chance the waterfolk will somehow play a role of some sort. I have autistically done a fucktonne of research into this. Bad news; the order of the pages in the book (and even which ones are on which side of eachother) isn't 100% consistent. Even sometimes the left and ride sides of a pair of pages get swapped. Probably animation errors but it makes it hard to figure out, and trust me I have tried my hardest to figure out what would've been on the "other side" of the page he burned, and I don't have a solid answer. Even worse, the page he burned actually shows up again when he's flipping through pages later in The Hard Way!

It's because this is like the 3rd or 4th version. I first compiled it back when the evidence was still so thin it was total meme speculation to kill time during the hiatus, and Jackie's seeming matchability with Tom was one more crazy point to add on why she could be a mermaid - a mermaid princess would fit the demon prince better than a boring earth teen. Except no they weren't. There was never really a reason for them to be around. Their main appearances in Pixtopia and School Spirit could have easily been done by other characters. Marco hangs out with them because of inertia; they were all he could get up until Star came along.

At least Jackie was a goal for him for a long time. She was semi-important even in an abstract sense in season 1, despite feeling even less like a character, and gained prominence and character (however little it may be) in season 2.

She is much more important than Ferguson or Alfonzo could hope to be.
