i think the reason homeworld is struggling in resources is because they put all they had into the war. Like if in tropico 5 (i bet nobody has played it but anyways) you spend more money than you have, your numbers will go down. Youll have -57 gold going to -100 gold and even if you regain some of your money back the drop off will stay in your game forever.
Thats what i think happened with the diamonds. They put everything they had into fighting the crystal gems and the corruption bomb after PD died.

You are saying the exact same thing I said when I was discussing this topic with someone two days ago.
It's more or less a common trope, especially for shounen and similar types of anime or western series. It's even worse because they usually don't stop with normalization of a power that was once unique and mysterious but overtrump even that later - after everyone and their moms unlocked the power there's usually an upgrade to keep things interesting. Or else all of the characters would have the same capabilities. It's and endless vicious circle and it makes series trashy as fuck - in the end the whole cast is special and OP.

Wait, I think I have some blips in my memory, but why do people say Pearl is bad person who never apologizes?
She apologized to Steven in Space Race and Amy in On the Run.

I don't remember exact words of apologies for Greg and Garnet, but through conversation and her actions, I thought her apology was communicated and was accepted.

And then there's that time when she "let" Steven fall and didn't help him up. I dunno. I suppose that was just the writer's way of making it dramatic for Steven to be the one to man up and reach out to her, who was in more distress than he was. Plus at the end there wasn't any dialogue shown, and it's not hard to imagine that she apologized profusely afterwards.

I wish we could see some writer notes in the future, or maybe even some short stories or whatever written by Sugar regarding these characters. It's silly to do so, but everything can just be blamed on the 11 minute format on a children's network.
