The movies are always trash. The series are low budget,cheesy, and made for children but they know they are and that makes them fun as opposed to the cw shows that take their premises 100% seriously. Kid shows in Japan also don't talk down to their audience and they can get away with a lot more that would be considered inappropriate for kids elsewhere.
