Loved it and I think it's funny that many people are the most excited about Thor Ragnarok now. At least in my group of friends.

GotG and Homecoming made them go "yeah they're okay, nothing special but we'll see them", but with Ragnarok they were really fucking excited. Whoever made the trailer knew what they were doing.

I like all the colors. Reminds of me Jack Kirby's Thor stuff when he'd go on cosmic adventures. I had to eat my words though because I said I'd be pissed if they turned it into a Pseudo-Planet Hulk but it looks like a whole lot of fun. Hope Thor gets a dope movie.

Taika Waititi does whimsical movies with a sharp dark underlying theme. What We Do in the Shadow and Hunt for the Wilderpeople both fall into that goofy, dark style.

Ragnarok looks exactly like what Waititi would do with Thor.

GotG is the current posterchild of the Galactic Marvel. This is because Thor 1 and 2 completely failed to capture the wider galactic feel and was too Earth centric.

You can't seriously demand that Marvel somehow treat GotG like it wasn't a massive success. Of course they would decide to not go for the angel AoU was going for. The Thor elements were the worst in AoU.

Regardless, Taika Waititi said that he is only in this for one film and then he is gone. I think he is serious. So regardless of how good or bad Thor 3 is, this film would be a once off.

I think Marvel understands that there is no point keeping directors who doesn't want to be there. Regardless, if Thor 3 worked out well then at least they would have a fanbase for Thor films that isn't embarrassing. And anyway, it was always a bad idea to have Thor being chained down by his girlfriend. It's not like Thor was ever known for that in the Comics.

Thor 4 will be difficult because it would be a long way away and Hemsworth might become too old by then. So Hemsworth will likely play small parts after IR until they eventually have both a new actor and director. Same plan as for Ironman.

Basically there is no rush for Thor 4 so no need to worry about it.

Just to add, basically Marvel Studios is hoping that the likes of Antman and Black Panther can carry the MCU until Captain Marvel and Doctor Strange can get established. And by having Thor, Ironman and Captain America in diminished roles it would become more acceptable for them to be rebooted à la James Bond, in a few more years.

I'm personally worried about Doctor Strange. Feige says he wants him to be the next Iron Man in terms of importance but it feels like it's going to come off forced. People got into Iron Man because of RDJ and I don't think you can replicate that with Benedict Cumberbatch.

I do agree that Doctor Strange isn't a smash hit, and more importantly I don't think MCU should rely on any single actor to keep the ratings up. Frankly I personally don't see RDJ being as important as some think he is, and am not against a recast. Remember that everyone believes there is only one true James Bond actor, but no one can agree on which one is it. As long as the MCU holds up in quality I expect the franchise to survive without needing big profile names.

I don't watch films for any particular actor, myself.
