Jack's faces in that episode were great. I liked seeing the normally cold-faced Jack get all blushed and embarrassed and smiling often.

There are stakes for Aku, too, with the planet almost in complete revolt and the potential for a dynasty by his worst enemy.

Everything good and bad about the original series is there, and I really like how the increased rating has freed up Genndy but not caused him to go too far.

Of course, I feel like an outlier since I liked Episodes 7 & 8 of the new season more than 4-6. 1-3 are up there with the best of the very best of the original series, but the rest has all been very good. The worst rating I'd give any of the episodes is like a 6.5-7/10 for Episode 4 for feeling stretched out for the sake of scenery porn when other aspects of the season could've used that time. Still, it was good overall. Excited to see how the last two episodes go, even though I feel like it's going to really pick up the pace even further to tie the whole thing together.

Aku's EXTRA THICC line becoming a meme in the wake of new season hype has been fun too.

Why does everyone want this? Or think it's something the character needs?
They weren't loving sisters, they were trained to not be compassionate towards each other. Ashi even says, with her own mouth, that her sisters knew what they were getting into when they attacked Jack.
They were also taught that death is failure and all that. Hell, when the first sister was killed, they all had a chance to 'mourn' but all they did was look at the body and run off after Jack, they aren't the type to mourn.
