I think I read somewhere that the more PG-13 focus is not only because it allows for a wider audience but because China has a harsher film rating system so executives try to censor films more to make it appeal better to the Chinese audience.

I know China's influence in the film industry has significantly known to the point many blockbusters make localisations to please them, and they are making their own Hollywood, but I can't find another article proving that specific claim so take it with a grain of salt.

Mad Max-ish situation. The "real" characters would be some marines and scientists on a mission, while the titular Doomslayer is someone they stumble upon (or vice-versa), who doesn't really talk a lot but is *really* good at killing demons. The Doomslayer serves as a catalyst for everyone else's development, while he himself remains the same character he was at the start of it all.
