I genuinely love Oneyplays and think they're absolutely fantastic.

I haven't enjoyed a letsplayer this much since jontron and arin were together, but I've watched both and would consider Oneyplays even funnier then them.. Once he got Julian and Ding Dong onto his channel that is.

It was almost BIZARRE watching that recent Simpsons hit and run episode where they were all together with Arin- if only because of how unfunny Arin was and is.

It's amazing how Oneyplays can make me laugh more with their stupid fucking rhymes than Arin can with all the "effort" he tries to put into his terrible fucking jokes.

Web animation is stupid and unfunny at this point, and is painfully inefficient work for people who are reluctant to do a normal job anyways. Yeah the type of people who outwardly criticize web content creators are likely to be pathetic, but it's legitimately hard to follow a lot of these people when their projects are too big to finish on their own and they've never even established a plan for releasing content. I'm sure these people are doing real work, but the way some of them act like edgy dumbasses with a chip on their shoulder about meeting expectations on the podcast really doesn't make it look like they know what they're talking about when they say you'd have to be an idiot to expect anything from them.

Well, there had to be some in them. Imagine being in 2004-2012 and working with expensive yet half-inefficient computer animating meant for common desktops. It must've been frustrating but the NG/YT e-celebs did it at a consistent rate then.

What should be questioned is how they lost their work ethic or drive. I know about the dying relevancy of Newgrounds and the change in the Youtube algorithm. Yet, as those improvisation and LP animatics prove, there's a market for limited animated videos as long as the material is entertaining. Plus, so much animation software is easier to access and gauge in quality nowadays. So considering their amount of experience, doing limited yet decently composed animated videos wouldn't be too much of an issue.

Most popular newgrounds animators got their fame when they were teenagers and they could fuck around and animate without having to worry about money or other things like that. Youtube monetization made things a little easier but it wasn't amazing, then youtube came along and changed their algorithm completely fucking over animators of any possible ability to produce animation for youtube as a sustainable job.

Most of the people you knew in the 2000's for web animation are adults now. They don't have the time or means to produce high quality content by themselves and so they either fall out of animation or try their luck running around pitching their ideas to big wigs in the hopes they can get them off the ground.

The only legitimate complaint is that he has reward tiers related to his podcast when he doesn't actually do his podcast. Zach, for all his claims that the TV show is happening, hasn't revealed jack shit about it. I get that there's confidentiality, but he can at least drop hints. Jeff and Cory have talent that exceeds Newgrounds, yet they're still tethered to the site because they don't have the chops to go professional. You know why people contribute to Zack despite the very little he provides in terms of personal content? It's because people trust him, and he's shown to be a really helpful guy to a lot of his peers on YouTube, specifically JonTron during his Starcade series, and with Lyle McDouchebag on some smaller projects. Not to mention there are various streams he's done with friends, simply to lend his voice to a conversation and/or continue to be entertaining with his wild style of comedy. Zack, I find, tries to be an honest person, and he seems like a genuine human being trying his best to create things that he can be proud of.

Now, if he is producing something for a major studio, then that's fine, he doesn't have to say anything about that, confidentiality and all that. But shouldn't he be on their payroll, if that's the case? He wouldn't need the patreon to be active if he's working on something that doesn't require the money of his fans.
The fact that he hasn't defined his output for those who pay him for it is like putting money into a vending machine, and not knowing what's gonna come out. It's irresponsible, and if it was anyone other than Zach, it could be mistaken for a scam.
