What runs through Alan Moore's mind when he sees the state of comic books and comic book IP extended to movies, tv shows, and video games?

Is he just seething in a dim candle-lit room surrounded by more books written by and for intellectuals?

He leads a pretty contented life, OP. Check out some interviews on youtube. He just does what he wants now.
>>
He doesn't really give a shit.
>>
>>92122524

Considering how heavily he relies on 19th century, and early 20th century, lit in his works, he's either lying in interviews to be a character, or he's a massive hypocrite
>>
Imagine being the Alan Moore in the comic book industry and having to be all like "damn, Marvel, your stories fuckin' fine, all epic with your rehashed content and horrific unoriginal jokes. I would totally read these comics, both in my jammies and in my underwear" when all he really wants to do is write another satirical parody of super hero tropes. Like seriously imagine having to be Moore and not only sit in interviews while DC flaunts their disgusting merchandise in front of you, the blockbusters barely concealing their putrid super hero odor and super greasy skin, and just sit here, reboot after reboot, hour after hour, while they perfected that new Avengers movie. Not only having to tolerate their monstrous fucking pandering but also their superiority attitude as everyone in the industry tells them they are THE FUTURE OF CAPE COMICS and DAMN CAP LOOK LIKE *THAT*?? because they're not the ones who have to sit here and watch his nerds hailing some gay octopus into types of autism you didn't even know existed before that day. You've been writing nothing but a healthy dose of satirical commentaries for your ENTIRE CAREER coming straight out of the watchmen. You've never even seen anything this fucking disgusting before, and now you swear you can taste the sweat that's breaking out on their shitty black Spider-Man novel as they sucks it in to chortle dismissively at you, smugly assured that you are enjoying the opportunity to not get paid to sit here and revel in his "progressive (for that is what they call them)" stories, the stories they worked so hard on with MS Paint in the previous hours. And then the suits call for another interview, and you know you could retcon every single character in the watchmen before the fans could put you down, but you sit there and endure, because you're the fucking Alan Moore. You're not going to lose your future dead old guy career over this. Just bear it. Eat your money and bear it.

"could use more hamfisted rape"

It's like Alan Moore is on /co/
>>
>>92123316
He's not against relying on the past to create new works.

He's against taking ownership of intellectual property away from the original creators (except into the public domain), and he's against positioning unauthorized stories as "official" stories instead of acknowledging them as fanfic.

Moore would be a hypocrite if, for example, he tried to claim ownership over the Lovecraft IP, perhaps even going to court with the Lovecraft estate.

He's not a hypocrite, but instead he's leading by example, creating past-relying works in the way that he thinks the Big Two SHOULD (but choose not to).
>>
>>92123853

Eh it's still a stupid line to quible over. He signed some shit contracts. Get over it and get a better lawyer to help you next time.
>>
>>92123907
Like the shit contract for Watchmen, which mandated that DC has to pay Moore royalties when they sell Watchmen merchandise.

DC violated that contract that time when they sold merchandise but refused to pay Moore.

Moore shouldn't do anything differently. He behaves exactly as one ought to, without unethically trying to cheat others (as DC does).
>>
>>92124028
DC really turned their shit around in that regard in the 80s, creators make bank if their characters make it into a movie
>>
he ignores it and doesn't care like a normal person. dumb interviewers just ask him about it because that's all they know
>>
>>92124028

See that's not a problem with his contract, that's a problem with his contract being disobayed. He should get said lawyer to sue their asses off.
>>
>>92124056
Still doesn't change that they tried to cheat him. Still doesn't change that the contract was breached.

They fucked up. The only way for them to make it right is to give him ownership of his IP. Since they still won't do that, they're still fucking up.

>>92124103
The point is that Moore isn't a hypocrite.

He draws a line in the sand, he stays on the proper side of it, and he calls out DC for staying on the wrong side.

I heard they've offered to give him the Watchmen IP several times over the last decade to repair relations between them, but he keeps refusing out of spite. And the thing about DC being corrupt is that those people who wronged Moore back in the 80s aren't the people running the company now. So Alan is mad at people younger than him for things their predecessors did.
>>
>>92122524

He cries like his pretentious pseudo-mystic pedantic fans want him to hoping one day he'll carry their autistic dreams with him as he lights the torch again for the overrated dreck that they call him masterpieces.
>>
>why isn't there more rape in these stories
>>
>>92125694

Cool world salad, yum!
>>
I read Jerusalem last year. It was a well-written book that did wonders in experimenting with prose. It also offered absolutely no new insights that you couldn't get from reading a bunch of old Moore interviews.
>>
>>92125704

It's funny that Alan Moore gained the rep as that comic book writer that always include rape in his stories thanks to a quote by Grant Morrison, when Morrison includes rape in his stories just as much.
>>
>>92122699
This. Alan Moore is incredibly friendly and very talkative. Just be prepared to spend hours listening to him as he talks slow and has a lot to say.

Moore doesn't care for the business side of comics, and how companies screw over their writers and artists.
>>
>>92126010
Moore has more rape, but at least he's honest about it. Morrison lied about the amount of rape in his own comics.
>>
>>92125663
You're thinking of the movie checks that he flushes down the toilet.

They'll never give him the IP back.
>>
>>92125663
>I heard
You heard wrong. They offered him the IP back once if he'd allow them to make Watchmen sequels and he told them to fuck off which was the right thing to do.
>>
Ol' Alan had a hard life

He has mental problems. He's already dead and his brain is too decayed to know it, like J.M. Smith says.
>>
>>92126754
He deserves every single bad thing that happens to him for attempting to destroy Superman. Never forgive, never forget. It's the Curse of Superman.
>>
what's the reason Supreme will never be reprinted? That's probably why he's so grouchy.
>>
>>92127197
>Destroying Superman
What? For the man who has everything and Supreme are some of the best Superman works. Save All Star, it's much better than anything Superman DC has published since the crisis.
>>
>>92123503

But Bendis hates Moore.
