I think this last episode was all about feminism metaphores. I mean, all the girls fought back, meanwhile Lars refused to help Sadie (after we saw just how well she did escaping from Topaz arms without his help), Jamie was too afraid to Jump...

And when Steven stood up for all their friends, it was by saying that he is not his dad, but his mom. I mean, maybe I'm just a fucking sociology student seeing more than there really is, but hey, it just speaks to me.

I'm just a little dissapointed because they could have handled this plot so much better. Instead the pacing of the episode felt so wrong for me.

The Gems are an intergalatic militant nation that cares for nothing but fuelling their war machine.
Gems are born into servitude. Born into a job and expected to carry it out without question. They have no freedom and are ruled by tyrants.
These are the people that invaded Earth, intending to destroy the planet to grow more soldiers.
They were led by one of the aforementioned tyrants. Maybe Pink Diamond was a kind tyrant, but she still expected Gems to serve the roles they were created for.
And maybe she did like Earth, but she liked it in the same manner a person likes a fine painting. Humans weren't people to her, they were cute oddities to lock up in a zoo for her own pleasure.

Rose was the leader of a rebelliong against all of this. Not only was she trying to save Earth and its inhabitants from being destroyed but she was trying to give Gems their freedom. Their right to choose the lives they wanted.

And yet somehow she's a war criminal. Why? Because she killed a tyrant. A woman who was trying to destroy a planet.

And why does Steven act like this is the only shattering the occured during the rebellion. He's been told about how violent the battles got during the war. He's walked the battlefields. He's faced Gem monsters and the Cluster who were made from Gems shattered during the fighting. Hell, Garnet's story about how she first came to be starts with Rose and Pearl trying to assassinate Pink Diamond.

He can't have been surprised that Pink Diamond got shattered, or that his mother had shattered Gems in the past (even know he also knows she went out of her way to avoid it, which is more than most soldiers would have done).
Garnet and Pearl have probably shattered their fair share of Gems too.

I've never been a fan of Rose, but Steven's treatment of her is completely fucked up.
