Yeah. I feel like a lot of writers on staff are either old and out of the loop or new people dying to get that one decent idea they had made into an episode without regard for time frames. Internet 2.0 and the 24 hour news cycle makes things move way too fast for people to try and make topical humor cartoons. It's better to stick with stand up or live action nowadays if you want to go the topical route.
