This gets repeated over and over but it's flat out false. Hirsch chose to make season two his last before he stared writing any of it. You can complain about pacing all you want but it's not because he "rushed at the last second."

The entire future thing was fucking stupid. Wacky Giant Baby Tron Future destroyed any tension the show could have had very early on. Time travel was too much by itself.
