As much as I love this idea, how would you execute it? Steven and the Gems would be pretty much powerless against this beast of nature Steven turns into. He's too damn powerful, downright a final boss character. You can't make him recurring; at best you can make him the staring villain of a TV Movie or having him sending wave after wave of disposable minions to Earth instead of bothering to come down himself. You could make the argument that he's figured out Time Travel but it only works with gems and destroys human bodies and thus he's stuck for the moment trying to solve that.

TV Movie is a good idea but I was thinking an over-arcing plot or several concerning the cast in the future doing battle with Warlord Steven's multi-galactic regime while trying to prevent the tragedy that caused Steven to become a warlord hellbent on wiping out the Gem race and taking over the galaxy for the sake of peace.

Said tragedy being the deaths of the Gems and Greg as well as costing Connie an arm or some other kind of disfigurement. All at the hands of Homeworld.

They would have to fight Warlord Steven at one point if just to show off just how powerful and god-like he has become. Maybe show him freeing an enslaved planet or fighting an army of Quartz solo. Something to really give you an idea of how powerful he is before the characters eventually have to face him.

I don't remember if they ever had some sort of explanation as to why the corrupted monsters keep acting up, and if there's something that attracts them to the temple.

The gems may be immortal beings with little need to conform to the current society, but as a responsible adult, Steven should probably get them some actual paperwork so they can more easily interact with humans. Licences, ID, etc.

Conveniently, they only seem to fight in areas devoid of human activity. I guess the human population on Earth is pretty concentrated in cities or whatever, and the gem monsters generally avoid them?

Anyway, the Crystal Gems really don't have to care for Steven's upbringing as much, though Pearl would probably still like to do chores like laundry and cooking or whatever.

I'd like to think that he'd remove himself from gem activity, and only assist at their request. He'd get a job, maybe go to school or get a G.E.D. Connie could help with that. Let's say his permanent shapeshifting wasn't a sudden thing but gradually along with Connie, since he's become so close to her.
