It could have been better

I think the show is pretty great i think starting off with a shit ton of action sequences and then randomly change it up made people scrath their heads but 5 episode 7 was great, episode 6 was probably the worst with all the callbacks even though i loved them none the less cause it was good to show jacks impact on the world, the demongo appearance doesnt make much sense especially if hes not gonna face jack or anything

You're a character that's part of the final season with no prior context, which isn't as bad as doomsayers claim it to be, but people were just paranoid about you taking up more screen time than Jack in what was supposed to be HIS moment, more than anything, as putting in proper character development for a brand new character AND the final arc of a long-going series is a lot of work considering the timespace we're talking here, not to mention traditional SJ tends to trot at a slower pace than other cartoons. We already saw in episode 7 that the pacing got straight up fucked in the end, and I can only hope that 7 was the worst of it all. I dare not hope it to be the last though, dunno what they have planned for the last three.

However the pacing is worrying me, and you could be used as a scapegoat for that, since if we didn't have your story lines there would be more room for other story lines, and then none of the story lines would be rushed because there would be fewer and we would be able to devote enough time to them.

It's good that Samurai Jack is getting a continuous story now. I wish we had 4 more seasons of something similar to that rather than each episode being sepf contained. The Orc army in the last episode was a bit disappointing. It could have been a much smarter action scene with her utilizing the high ground and crushing them with boulders or something. They also should have kept the fight with the mom until later, nearer the finale. Whatever. Nitpicks.

Honestly, I just want maybe 5 more episodes, it's been moving too fast. Ashi changed sides in one episode, and they could have expanded on Jacks mental issues a bit more as well. I do kinda miss the old Jack style the first episodes had, when it was only him, but I think it's fine for a new character to swithc up the dynamic. But it all feels a bit rushed. ESPECIALLY the sword thing. I assumed they would actually find it, not get it lasered to Jack along with clothes and a shave, that was weird.

I have mixed opinions about this characters, at first i thought she would be the female version of the scotsman which was nice because i knew she would be important to the events of season 5 when i first saw her and her sisters in the trailer but after the last 3 episodes and the way they handled her in the last one I'm starting to think she is gaining far more importance and admiration outside of the show, left and right all you see is numales, tumblr and faggot Zone with all the artists behind him praising Ashi left and right which makes me think she is starting to overshadow the show turning it from a show where we got to experience the world thru Jack similar to how the old trilogy Mad Max was into a "What is Ashi up to in this week's episode "
Personally i think she made the show worse at the current pacing and exposition we get, she is not made for a 10 episodes season given the exponential importance she gains with each episode.
She gives Jack an anchor point in the story that connects well all the episodes and makes his journey not seem a solo wandering the world finding Aku and having one last battle which is good.
What shouldn't happen and some of you faggots pointed out here, I hope for the sake of this show that Genndy didn't cuck Jack's story by having Ashi killing Aku and saving the day using a deux ex machina trope gimmick or having Jack pull some cringe tier heroic sacrifice to save her from an impeding deadly attack while he dies in the process
IF its one way this show has to end, its with Jack using Ashi to replenish Japan's population after he kills Aku in the future, at this point its better for him to remain there than go back.

She's a good character but I feel she ultimately makes the show worse because the inclusion of a new character all together means more time must be dedicated to give them depth, on a show that already desperately needed more episodes as is.

I don't hate her and I still very much think Season 5 has been great for the most part, but I do believe in the long run a side-kick character brings the season down. If they had an extra five episodes there would be no problem but that just isn't the case.

I think all in all the addition of Ashi was a good idea. Genndy needed something as a catalyst for Jack breaking out of his despair. It wouldn't have worked to have him do it on his own and it wouldn't have worked with any of the old characters. The season would've done well with another 5 episodes to flesh things out more, but it's done a great job with what it has.

I liked how they made the show mature but at a level that makes sense within the universe. Jack doesn't just start killing people out of the blue, there's character development and an arc. I had zero complained up until this last episode with that jarring "looked like a penis" line and the endless fan service that really should have been sprinkled throughout the other episodes as opposed to cramming it all in the space of about 7 minutes.

I think the penis one did it for me more than anything else. What was the purpose of that joke? Seems like they only put it in there to shock people and we'll never see anything like that again, so they've set a precedent that will make everything after this point feel awkward.
