I skipped KSD's run based on a recommendation to do so, and resumed at her ANAD Captain Marvel book, her getting started as had of Alpha Flight
It felt like the same character from Reed's run, just better at keeping up appearances

No it wasn't. It was pure garbage. It could only be considered decent because Marvel was and is publishing so many awful titles.

It's like the mid 90's when everything was crap so if something came along that wasn't a dumpster fire people thought it was good.

There hasn't been a good Carol book ever. Reed's run comes the closest until you realize it would have worked better with any other cosmic hero.

DC, civil war 2 turned a lot of people off and they looked to all the fun things that Rebirth was doing. I can't say I blame them, a Bendis event again was just fucking awful.

Cap found some gamma serums in Bruce's house and said it was proof Banner was trying to get his powers back. Banner said he was trying to create a cure based on his current state to be used on other hulks. lots of arguing. Hawkeye(male) shot Bruce right between the eyes because "I totally saw his eyes flicker green from 100 meters away". Banner dies instantly. Hawkeye surrenders himself to SHIELD custody
The case goes to trial, it turns out Banner himself was the one who gave him the 'anti-hulk arrow' he killed him with along with instructions to kill him if he ever went on a rampage. Between that, and how many people on the jury plain hate the Hulk for his rampages, Hawkeye was found not guilty.
tony kidnaps the guy from the inhuman's floating city and runs some brainscans on him, then gives him back
the inhumans do a bunch of shit to fuck with tony, then one of them blows up stark tower
the one who blew up the tower gets handed over to SHIELD but the rest get off scott free.

'War' breaks out which was basically just a nasty scuffle on a rooftop
a few days later Spider-Man (black) goes to the washington memorial where the vision showed him killing Cap
Cap shows up to talk to him, says he doesn't think Spider-Man (black) has done anything wrong
Carol shows up and basically agrees, but asks Spider-Man (black) to turn himself over to SHIELD custody for his own protection and for the sake of appearances, saying he'll probably be free to go in like a week or two.
Tony comes careening out of the sky in a hulkbuster suit, opens fire on Carol, and demands she step away from Spider-Man (black) (and nearly killing both Cap and Spider-Black in the explosion)
Carol is pissed, and they fight.
After a bit of a scuffle, Carol blasts Tony so hard he falls into a coma.
Inhuman man shows up tells everyone to stop fighting before Carol become a mad dictator, then ascends to a higher plane of existance because Bendis couldn't think of an ending. the president gives Carol a medal and says she gets one free favor from him. Carol thinks she should be court martialed or something instead but no one else cares. She becomes an insomniac, suicidal mess.

and it turns out Captain America had been a double agent for Hydra the whole time thanks to a cosmic cube fucking with him, and at every step of the way he was fucking with people to undermine their trust and take out a few of the more dangerous avengers in the process for the sake of conquering the USA in the current event Secret Empire.

So at the end of the day, Captain Hydra was the only winner
