She's kind of shown not to be on numerous occasions. Even early on both Pearl and Amy comment on how they're afraid of Garnet because although she puts on a good front she's kind of a rage case because of Ruby.

If the pressure is from combat, yeah she's the one to call. But otherwise you run the risk of her either talking over you and pushing your concerns to the side (Sapphire) or just struggling to not solve every interaction by punching (Again, Ruby).

People like to write her off as LOLGAY but in reality shes the only character besides Greg who has had a somewhat healthy relationship, so of course Steven will go to her for advice.

Lapis' first action, in fact the thing that made Steven like her, was that she made fart jokes. She's always been kind of a cynical troll.

I like that she's kind of a counter to the rest of the group's "HUGGING AND LEARNING AND CRYING" vibe. She's been through more hell than any of the others but she handles it by being detached and snarky. It's an interesting twist to the dynamic.

To me Lapis has become more likable as she's settled into the cast whereas Peridot has become less so. They've gone too far into making her a goofball.

Stan is super interesting. Mainly because he reacts to every crazy situation in the most realistic way for a kid that age. He's also slowly morphing into his dad and they are also hinting that he could go in the same path as characters such as Bojack or Rick.
Kyle is super dull. All he does is bicker with Cartman and try to act morally superior to everyone. Also I'm sick that its always him ending up saving the day at the end of each season. His parents also suck. They always try to write them that they are just misguided but no they just suck ass.
