I honestly feel like his pre-cancellation/revival stuff was good. Sometimes they dragged on a bit, but at least the way he portrayed the critic was amusing enough. In the beginning, it felt like Nostalgia Critic was just an avatar of his nostalgia and bits of the audiences, then he just turned it all into a big joke "hahaha, critic is angry and pissy and easily stepped on by others" and whatnot. Then of course the revival stuff has to have those idiotic tagalongs doing skits with him or framing the reviews with bloated "plots" that just make inane jabs at the movie being reviewed.

That's why I said they're BAD jokes. They're clearly meant to be funny but, failed. It happens sometimes when someone tries to do comedy but isn't good at it. You asked what the deal is with this shit, and in such a way that you seemed to have missed that they have all the common formula of a joke or a bit, but are just done poorly. You actually seem to have trouble comprehending basic social cues like common humor.

I agree with you that I think he's not funny, but if you really want to know why he still does this shit, it's because he thinks it's funny. And so do his fans, for some reason, because there are still people out there watching him and telling him he's doing a good job. And it makes him money so hes just going to keep doing it. I think he's tried to do other stuff that tanked, and Nostalgia Critic was the only thing that ever took off, so he turned the dial on that up to eleven.

Well, actually, I've seen the logic behind this same joke, but done better. There's this old alcoholic guy that is a regular customer at the bar I used to work at, and every single day he would order a martini, taste it, and when asked how it is or occasionally even when not asked would say "This is the best martini I've ever had in my life." And again, usually when prompted, but sometimes not necessarily, would say "And do you want to know why? Because it's the most recent martini I've had! And it gets better every time." Every single day, pretty much. Personally I think this random guy applies and delivers this joke better than bum.

So by that logic we could say that bum is trying to express that every new movie he sees is to him better than all the movies he's seen preceding it. It could be perceived as true if he thinks each movie is better than the last.

They've said previously that the way YT works 10 min is the sweet spot. Any less and you're not making money off your vids. Any more then your wasting time on that video.

Something to do with the average person's attention span these days. If someone sees a video is more than 10 min then they're less likely to watch it or even watch it all the way through.
