I'd say just about every 90s cartoon. A lot of good shows in that decade had stellar first seasons but for some reason crapped the bed afterwards. The drama would get toned down, the animation would falter, and ongoing plot development would be practically abandoned in favor of an episodic format. BTAS, MiB, Godzilla are examples.

I know that a lot of the westerm production teams of that decade blame cheap children's anime like Pokemon and Digimon for taking their ratings, but I'd also put the blame on them for getting rid of the cool factors that initially attracted people to their shows.

I've said it before, the 10 episode limit is just too harsh.
These are all great ideas, but they just don't have time to execute them. Episodes 1 and 2 were the only ones with good pacing since they were setting up the conflict.
To a lesser extent 3 had okay pacing, 4 felt weird.The pacing of the adventure itself was fine, the resolution came too quickly, however.
5 and 6 were just nonstop PLOT PLOT PLOT PLOT because they're running out of time here.

15 episodes and I think the show would have been much better received since we'd just now be resolving Ashi's confliction with her upbringing instead of resolving Jack's issues.

I can ignore the the shitty Ashi episodes as long as the ending it's good.

Jack recovering the sword should have been an episode to itself, him defeating his anger and recovering the sword in 1 minute and thirty seconds was disappointing, as was him defeating the spirit of regret or whatever it was in a similarly short time frame.

The ideas are there, the execution works. But it feels unsatisfying.

EP1: it needs to introduce the story so probably a little rushed in some part. But it has good fight and interesting characters.
EP2: best episode so far. funny Aku scene. tons of amazing memorable fight scenes.
EP3: quite good, but the plot armour is so strong in this one (Jack blocked a mace hit with his bare arm)
EP4: a little relax and fun episode after all the despair. I am good with this
EP5: The scotman part could be better. Ashi's redemption is not that convincing for me. If the brainwash is that weak the cult won't remain.
EP6: "Remember that character" fan service and "naked chick" fan service. Also I don't like Ashi new look, it looks like a completely different character.
EP7: The fight scene is good i guess, but i hate that the renewed Ashi killed her mom like nothing. Jack should come out and stop her. Also the gods scene could be better.

IMO, the EP2 is the peak, and EP5 started going decent

1. This is the fifth season to a show that already had plenty of material to build off of. The new characters, the introduced emotional drama, and the 50-year time skip are unnecessary detriments since they add unneeded elements to the core point of the story that would inevitably waste time.

2. Throughout the history of western animation, plenty of the most highly regarded series gave satisfying stories in 10 episodes or less. And movies of all mediums have been telling good stories in 1.5 to 3 hours for nearly a century.

If you can't utilize 220 minutes to tell a good story, then that is your fault.
