/co/ I've been gone for about a month! What can I say a mew apartment, nintendo switch amd Persona game have distracted me! Well no longer(hopefully) so let's get back into the old story timing business! We are reading Lucky Penny, yes I've done it before but I'm out of practice and it's the only thing I have prepared! So let's dive right in!
>>91935189
How is everyone doing tonight?
>>91935222
not so great but a comic's always nice
lucky penny's an enjoyable one
>>91935274
Need to talk about it anon?
>>91935189
Dan's alive!
>>91935274
For about the first 75%, then it goes off the rails into Crazytown.
>>91935370
Mostly
>>91935189
this comic is so comfyand then the writers wrote themselves into a corner and just kinda go insane for a bit like a short version of Cerberus
How old is MC? Halfway between thinking she's cute but she also looks like she could be ancient
I fucking hate girls and women so much
>>91935577
Out of college age I'm guessing 26 or 27 as someone who is 25 she seems like someone in my age bracket that is a little late to launch, her friend is moving across country for job opportunity and family and shit and that is what is happening with my friends and such. So all of that anecdotal evidence leads me to think between 25-30
I've never read this but did one of my favorite short horror stories in Dark Horse Presents.
>>91935605
Need to talk about it anon?
>>91935330
Oh!
I know what that tattoo MEANS. And it's nothing good.
>>91935849
What's it mean? The leaf looks like the plant that the Romans used for aborting pregnancies.
>>91935871
OH or is it a snake and apple and I'm a dummy for thinking it's a leaf.
>>91935605
You'll grow out of it, kid.
Wait, how old are you? I hope you're still in middle school. You might just die alone and unloved. But there are worse things I guess.
>>91935189
DAN! How've you been, my man? /co/ hasn't been the same without you. How's life? How's the new apartment?
Once again, thanks for the storytime!
>>91935853
>Penny will never romp about your apt in her panties, bra, and soft light chub.
Why live
>>91936092
You'll find a girl to do that some day anon! You just gotta keep looking and keep your heart open!
>>91936074
I'm doing as well as I can! The new place is nice, right by my office, a lot more spacious and kinda quaint. I can't really complain over all. How are you anon?
Didn't already storytime all of this? Fairly recently too?
>>91936325
Yep I even said that in the OP. I was unprepared, what can I say.
>>91936164
Awesome. Glad to hear you're doing well, man!
I'm doing well, thanks for asking. College finished up for the year. I'm in the middle of a seven hour layover. Heading to my parents place for the summer. I have some personal and professional projects planned, so I hope I can do those pretty well.
>>91936447
I am sure it will all go well for you anon! Enjoy your time off though,
>>91935189
why are you story timing this schlock AGAIN
i'm so mad i'm going to post an image in this thread
>>91936214
I feel like this is a good reaction image for something
This looks an awful lot like Scott Pilgrim but I don't see Bryan Lee O'Malley's name anywhere
>>91936849
>was
You never stop being an eagle scout.
t. eagle scout
>>91936906
Are you really? That is really cool! I don't support the scouts as an organization but I envy your preparedness.
>>91937001
Eagle scout and Order of the Arrow. Shit's cash, all young men should be in scouts. If you aren't you're some kinda pussy faggot.
>>91937049
What have you been reading lately Dan? Any recommendations?
Scott Pilgrim was a mistake
is this an extended dream sequence, or is this what you guys meant by it just going insane during the last quarter?
>>91937292
The latter
>>91937116
fuck, anons weren't lying
>>91935189
>nintendo switch
Is that console worth it? Just wondering cause I'm debating on whether or not to save up for one.
Regardless of quality, this is a /comfy/ ass comic. Thanks, Dan! Glad you did it again, I wasn't here the first time.
>>91937363
I enjoy it but really the games are limited, when ARMS comes out I am sure I'd recommend it more whole-heartedly.
>>91937367
No need to thank me, I just post other people's work on 4chan.
I am gravely distressed at the turn of events in this comic.
>>91937390
So are they just gonna write it off as a long dream sequence from getting too drunk. I almost hope so. just cause how bat shit crazy this is.
>>91937390
it seemed like it was going somewhere, and then all of a sudden it wasn't
>>91937432
Penny has the fucking Serpent of Eden tattooed on her neck. If things DON'T get supernatural I'll be disappointed. That's a tattoo full of portents.
>>91937390
Same here anon, it seemed like it was simple, fun and grounded in reality and took a wide turn out of left field and threw away a lot of things it had going for it. It's not bad but it wasted its potential
>>91937461
>It's not bad
It's not good either. Needed more of Penny's giant rear end.
>>91937482
That, my dear anon, we can agree on.
>>91937490
So that was real. I expected a grounded, slightly cliche, slightly lewd slice of life comic and I got Scott Pilgrim kind of. I don't know how to feel about this.
>>91937498
JFC I thought It was over!
>>91937521
I was disappointed when I first read it. Almost thought my comic was a misprint and I got the finale act of a different story.
Also
>posting pictures in a storytime thread
Tsk tsk anon
Guys should I go get Jack In The Box?
>>91937543
It's no biggie we have plenty of space!
>>91937543
Sorry I'm admittedly new to this whole storytime business (this is the first time I got to one as it was happening).
And in terms of being disappointed by the story, at least I still have that first half for me project my own self onto Walter with.
>>91937552
Git that Late Night Munchie Meal, Best Coast Anon.
>>91937580
Anon in my story times you are always free to post a picture! It's no biggie love.
>>91937607
>Why is Dan Dashly so based?
>>91937618
I wouldn't go that far but thanks!
this was fun
thanks dan
>>91937607
I must thank you dan. I must the first story thread for this and it was actually an enjoyable (albeit slightly disapointing) read
Thanks for reading guys!
>>91937653
See, as cliche as it is I wanted more of this. Cutesy adventures of beta nerd and unlucky girl finding happiness with eachother.
Admittedly, it was because of expectation and I wasn't above an off-the-wall romantic comedy with so many fantastical element.s They just should've introduced the world as such from the beginning.
>>91937661
Penny is a CUTE!CUTE!
>>91937726
I actually got little stickers of those Pennys at TCAF last year, too cute to use sadly.
Thanks Dan. Nice to see you again, btw.
>>91936206
>meanwhile in /tg/
>>91937666
Dan! I missed you!
Already read this, but bump for new readers.
>>91935871
>>91935884
Snake and apple? so is it some biblical adam and eve reference?
>>91937830
Sorry I've been gone!
Thanks dan.
Thought the comic was tripe shit but the art was really good and the faces were posed well.
>>91937860
Missed ya Danny boy! Welcome home, thanks for the dump.
It's a book that was a nice read, but I do think it suffers from being part of the same mold as Scott Pilgrim, it had a great grounded feel that was abandoned for no real good reason and brought back in the end. Scott Pilgrim was a lot more smarter about where it needed to be wacky this book could not pull it off, Still I loved the art just wished it didn't suddenly felt the need to become Scott Pilgrim it had a good thing going for it.
>>91937860
thanks for the storytime
I missed this one a couple of months ago and now I get to read it again.
>>91935991
>A date with a fairly attractive woman literally falls into your nerdy ass lap
Immersion broken
>>91935189
Thanks, Dan!
I'm enjoying this but reading the Walter/Penny thing is giving me painful flashbacks. Shit like this used to give me so much false hope when I was younger.
Is this like a wannabe gender swap Scott Pilgrim
>>91935189
Am I the only one who was disappointing thatit wasn't a giantess story
>>91937966
The thing with Scott Pilgrim is that it introduced those elements in small doses at the beginning and slowly ramped up the goofiness, and knew when to separate grounded character drama from wacky videogame fights.
Lucky Penny just changes tone completely at the last second and inserts it right in the climax of her arc.
>>91939036
Yeah, I agree with you. You'd think editors or anyone with any reasonable storytellling skills/sensibilities would give the writers notes on tone and story shift. It seems like a pretty obvious flaw that could've been fixed easily.
>>91936383
what is this, Ruroni Kenshin?
>>91936897
I was about to say, did this artist work on Scott Pilgrim or something?
>>91937116
...what the fuck is going on?
Nearly missed this thread. Cheers, OP.
>>91940129
I remember this being a project the people behind some webcomic I liked back in the day worked on but it's been so long since I kept up on it that I couldn't give you any details beyond what a quick google reverse search would.
Really liked it. You really deserve a cookie, OP.
Anyone check out their new project Barbarous?
>>91937417
>>91937407
>>91937400
>>91937424
So are Gunhilda and Walter an item?I like to imagine Walter has enough game to snag him a hot older girl with hot abs and the ability to bend metal with her fists. Because he's a gentleman of taste.
While the fantastical third act threw me a bit, I will happily report of my emotional reaction to the ending.
9/10 Will get Misty about being nearly homeless again!!!1!
Wow. I started reading this once, but stopped at some point. Apparently it was right before shit hits the fan, so I had no idea how weird it got. Kinda disappointing, but I really like Yuko Ota's art so I still had fun. Thanks for the storytime bruh.
Bumping for a great read (though Act 3 jumps the shark a bit)
>>91937975
There's enough attractiveness underneath the nerd exterior and quirkiness in the woman to make it believable.
>>91936746
Fuck off
>>91946689
I was mainly saying that this kind of shit rarely if ever happens in real life.
>>91936906
>eagle scout
>didn't immediately point out how incredibly dangerous it is to use a fucking kerosene heater in an unventilated locker
Stolen valor
>>91946986
im more surprised that a guy would date someone who's borderline homeless
>>91937049
I'm an eagle, never did oa for some reason though...
>>91937138
I thought I was reading a fun slice of life comic...
does anyone else notice that Lucky Penny wears lucky "pennies"?
Some pages are cute, but the art and story make this look like a bad copy of Scott Pilgrim, and that was only good for half the comic.
>>91947046
having a place to sleep makes a homeless girl extremely amenable to... requests
