She was originally meant to be a sorta Cranky Kong type, really irritable and bitter. But I really like those softer designs on the right side, so thinking I wanna take it more in that direction.

Other idea was having her be a sort of insane crazy cat (or in this case, frog) woman. Crazy and voodoo magic are a dangerous mix.
>>
>>91934255
a cliche, and one i adore. fits in nicely with urchin as well. wait is she being called nancy again?

oh i see. that's actually a while. just correcting in case that come up in the comic.
i particularly like that she just enjoys hanging out with the lady
>>91934302
i think the center is my favorite. she ought to look kinda weak after all, like magic's all she's got

man that reminds me of another comic that was in the works here a long time ago.. frog-lady witch with a kinked hat.. shit was cool. definitely inspired me.
>>
>>91934193
Oh absolutely I know the art needs work. My writing too but I have to basically write what I can draw at this point. I'd love to be able to flex my writing and plotting.

I do these little things really to practice my "art" in a more practical way than just continuously drawing things and putting them in a folder I'll eventually throw away after looking at with disgust down the road. I'd prefer to write 100 comics a month but I can't afford an artist for one at the moment.

Pencils, however, are affordable.
>>
>>91934391
Nah, hahaa, that top one was made YEARS ago, back when she was still Nancy. I think, like 2010 or something?

Yeah, I wonder if I could use that right design for something else cause I really like it, but it just doesnt seem to fit what I want for the character.

There are so many successful webcomic artists earning thousands from patreon/merch sales/ads. And their comics are quite often...overrated.

But whatever, I just wanna be one of them. I wanna create my own shitty webcomic and I want to feed it to my readers twice a week, with little effort. This is my goal.

If I could eventually earn even €700 a month, that would be great.

The problem is getting there. It's gonna be hard. But I have no choice. Either work for myself or work for others.

>>
>>91935955
Nah, sorry to disappoint. The 3D is from some old 90s tech demos. In the final version I'll have a little title at the top saying the specific video. They're pretty obscure and match the general "90s sci-fi" atmosphere I'm going with. They're underrated and chill so I figured it'd be a nice thing to showcase and end videos with.
>>
>>91935955
>Do you guys plan to do covers and stuff like that?

I'm planning to do covers for every chapter I do. I make my comic with pretty simple cel-shaded coloring but I really enjoy painting so I use covers as a way to make some nicely rendered promotional illustrations for my comic

Alright I've had a story planned out for months and I decided I wanna make a comic out of it, but I want it to start out as good as it can be assuming I get the first chapter out by summer.

Mostly I'm looking for panelling/art feedback, the lore is dense so I need to make sure my drawings read well.

Well first off, the default reading flow is left to right, up to down. Generally you want your panels in horizontal staggered rows rather than vertical columns, right now this is hard to figure out the reading direction.

without letters there's no way to tell what's happening here. Which is probably a bad sign. Unless the story needs it to jump around.

If you were to see this play out it would be a montage of shots instead of a scene.

I wouldn't point that out but you said you need the drawings to read well. And I can't read anything from them as planned.

there's a girl, a pa system, a hallway, a couch, a girl stretching, now she's sitting, now she's up, are those leggings, does she need to pee?

Mostly the sequence of events is all I need to know people understand. There is absolutely minimal dialogue in the start since I want to convey as much as I can through visuals. Opening scenes will jump around a lot cause there's a lot going on to start off with and I despise expositional text box walls.

Anyone have an suggestions for organizing a Story plot?

I have a bunch of characters , that fit in my world with their own stories, with an overarching plot but I'm not sure what to do next.
Er or better yet, I'm not sure how I should go about this, I could go with an episodic structure, which would be easier I think.

What do you guys think?
>>
>>91937033
write down something you might write if you were making episode summaries, like "they go to a thing, but it turns out some thing"
get a bunch of those ideas down and let that be your start
>>
>>91937033
Start making the story, Most common ways to go are:

Start with MC and introduce whoever come close to his story.

Do multiple Main Characters and interlock their stories with characters that come into their lives and events that shake them in different ways.

Go and unveil one character do a comic series about them, but intentional leave out part of the story that may happen to another character who you can introduce in another comic series like a chain of reactions.

Point is there are hundreds of things you can do, just make the story, plan something that Wows you. Try to outdo yourself in storytelling.
>>
>>91936930
I don't mean to be mean but if you don't plan on adding much lettering you'll need more panels. I'd need a short story to connect the panels just on that first page.

Unless the sequence of events I listed above were close to what you have in mind.
>>
>>91937131
>>91937178
Hmm thanks anons.
I took a break for a few weeks to try and organize my thoughts. Every-time I'm sure on one plot, another cool idea comes out and it turns into a giant clusterfuck.

I should probably start with a simple plot and branch out from there and then attach the other stories to that. I really dig the way Kill Six Billion Demons do it, and Bone from Jeff smith.
>>
>>91937323
Well I'd give him some leeway here, my page doesn't have letter (dialogue) and most people probably can't tell what's happening here If you take away the notes i put on the sketch...>>91936829
>>
Hey friends, I could use your help nailing down a concept that I'm not historically or mathematically inclined enough to nail down on my own.

The comic I want to make hinges, though it's not crucial to the PLOT per se just the mechanics of the background operations, on the main being the operator of a lending trust. So my question is this:

How far back in history and how much capital would be necessary to have effectively "limitless" funds today, or in the near-ish future? Or even the less near future, whatever works.
>>
>>91937398
I get that. The difference I see there is that the characters and scene seem constant. The scene seems to change in anons page and so it seems more jumpy rather than consistent.

Also directionally you can see consistent movement in your art. Anons, with the jumps, seems disjointed.

If anon wants to have little wording the movement should be paramount.
>>
>>91937323
You pretty much got the sequence 100% correct. I don't plan on adding much more than a maximum of 6-7 word balloons per page until I've established the characters enough. So adding more panels wouldn't really be an issue for the opening couple chapters.

>>91937033
I just write a general plot synopsis and let it branch out whenever I get ideas. Admittedly it's a pretty disorganized method but if you get the beginning synopsis solid enough to begin with, you can just brainstorm lore until the story basically writes its self.
>>
>>91937516
Then disregard the rest of what I said. Maybe try to inject a bit more visual progression in the walk down the hallway.
>>
>>91937488
Depending on whether or not you play the stock market it could be anywhere from a 10 million dollars 50 years ago to 100 million in the 18th century.

>>
>>91937595
Forgive me, because again I am not the best when it comes to investment type things, but why would you need more capital farther back?

Also, why the 18th century specifically? Are there historical complications regarding banks that would prohibit starting it earlier?
>>
>>91937685
Not that anon but maybe he's assuming the depression would gut your wealth
>>
>>91937488
the thing to look into there, specifically, would be trust funds. i bet you can find great info if you search specifically for that on the internets.

all i know is that if you were really smart you'd store actual currency from back then, because it has a tendency to become collectors' items in the future... if you can actually hold onto it that long without getting robbed. david xanatos' entire fortune started with him timetraveling 1000 years into the past, getting a penny, then having it mailed to himself like 15 years in the past so he could get rich from it
>>
>>91937488
Impossible, if you alter history in anyway to gain only riches you will alter the time line which would cause you not to go back and correct this. You'd create a time paradox that would ultimately end the universe.

UNLESS... you can flub up a Fictional Temporal System or FTS that can bypass or negate that.
Like i don't know Plan literally everything in you family while simultaneously keeping within the reason of reality. (Basically don't make you family powerful enough were people will kill them, you great great grandfather marries someones else)
Again Time Travel is dangerous don't do it, But if you want Limitless funds Today or in the future, Have your main character be a genius who in a future where currency is digital created the first "Limitless Currency Code"....

I don't know dude your story needs time to be developed good luck...
>>
>>91937678
i love your backgrounds, but for talky pages like this you could get away with these placeholders you have now.
>>
>>91937685
18th century is assuming that you're not playing the stock market.
If you were playing the stock market for as long as it had been open you'd have beyond limitless funds, you'd have more that the GDP of a small country.

Also yeah the great depression kinda screwed a lot of stuff up.
>>
>>91937725
Are you being sarcastic?

Anon just wants to know how rich you would have to be, dating back to what year, in order to have Bruce Wayne money.

Like 100 mil in the 1920s.

Maximum comfy, /hyw/. Nothing gets me feeling this good like success on my creative project.
>>
>>91937704
I hadn't thought of that, but that's an excellent point.

>>91937725
Well I never said anything about time travel, nor do I intend to use it. The limitless currency code is an interesting concept and might be able to be worked in somehow, but in any event, like I said the trust itself is not overly pivotal to the plot. The idea is that the main himself is not particularly powerful, but as he is the current head of the family he's in charge of the trust, lending out money to more powerful yet broke folks (peter parker types). But again, that's not the focus of the comic, just the background.

>>91937712
THIS seems like something I could definitely work with. The idea of "old money" accruing additional wealth over time. It'd take some creative jiggering, but it's certainly worth consideration.

Excellent advice from all corners guys, thanks much.
>>
>>91937341
Neither of the guys who replied to you, but also examine what links those episodic narratives together thematically. Do the characters have similar goals, or are they reacting differently to the same challenges? A hack strings together locations and characters--a good creator uses locations and characters to string together ideas and themes.

You should add panel lines or at least separate the panels with a slim black or white space. It looks weird when they're just stuck together like this. Kinda the opposite problem of manhwa webcomics where there's meters of space between 3 panels and they call that a "chapter".

Other than that, super interesting, it's got strong Mignola vibes but doesn't feel like a rip-off...

oh, i just stitched the first panels with an online editor. when i post i upload the individual images so tumblr doesn't resize the whole thing. sdo the lines are there by default. sometimes the 600x600 images don't have enough space but I'm working on that
i just how i draw, really. I'm trying something new and instead of focusing on the details on a single thing with clean backgrounds I'm trying to do the opposite and visualize the whole scene with quick simple lines. same goes for the color.
I'm trying to work on the limits of what's enough to leave an impression but keeping it very simple.

I didn't even realize you used a textured brush, it's so hard to see. The file is big because you did a png instead of a jpg, but I would go with a simpler brush anyway; it doesn't work with the style and it probably takes a lot of memory to draw with. Also, push your values a bit; there's some areas you could go pure black if you wanted to.

Hey guys, how's it going?
Anon from one of the last threads here who's working on a concept for an adventure comic where the MC can control animals.
Pic related is from the storyboard for the first chapter I did about a year ago when the story was still relatively undeveloped and I was mostly working on other concepts.
I want the introduction during the first few chapters to transition into a longer flashback arc with MC as a kid.
I got the broad strokes of the story worked out now and am currently in the process of turning the 20 or so scripts for chapters I have into (crappy) storyboards...

Where do you usually do sketches, doodles, character designs and so on? I see a lot of people here working mostly digitally.
>>
I've been playing around with motifs (I could really use some extensive resources on motifs and how to set them up) and one I've had a little bit of fun working out is the 7 deadly sins, yes I know it's overdone but should it make it into the final product I do intend to toy with the concept.

Example: Lust is usually done bass ackwards, usually represented as an object to be lusted after. Characters representing lust should actually be lustful ones and not limited to lusting after others.

Example 2: should i get that far, there will be 9, to attribute more to the 9 circles of hell from Dante's inferno, with Limbo being circle 1 and Treachery being circle 9
>>
So I'm currently remastering (re-lettering and screentones, cleaning up stray lines) some old strips with a view to publishing a collection (they have been printed individually but never previously together).

There are 28 pages of strips, so with the front and back cover and the introduction/contents page, that totals 31.

That means I can make a 32 page book with only 1 page of 'extras' or a 36 pager with 5 extra pages.

At the moment I'm juggling between
>A blank page for a custom sketch
>1 page of character bios
>The old pin-up sketch that originall inspired the characters

That leaves 2 pages to fill for the 36 page book (or 1 page if I expand the character bios to 2 pages). Any suggestions? Ask friends for fan-art?

There are no 'design notes' as such, I just dived in to drawing a bunch of goofy strips (I drew the pin-up sketch mentioned above, then decided I liked these characters enough to draw some strips for them).

>How big should a comic page be (in pixels)?

How long is a piece of string? Just as it depends on what you want to use the string for, the size of the page will be determined by where you intend to publish it.

For your original art, don't think in terms of pixels, think in inches or millimeters, and factor in that it should be printed at no less than 300dpi. You'll also need to take into account margins and bleed.

Standard US letter size is 8.5x11 inches, or 2550x3300pls @300dpi.
Euro A4 is 210x297mm, or 2480*3507pls @300dpi.

For web publication, particularly vertical orientation, your key dimension will be the width. This is where you need to be thinking in pixels; scale down the original art to around 700 to 1000 pixels wide, at around 96dpi. The exact number will depend on where you'll be hosting it.

I suggest you work at a size suitable for printing, even if you have no intention of doing so at the moment, as you may change your mind at a later date. Look into some standard print dimensions for comics, along with researching print terms like dpi, margins, bleed, etc.

If I'm only publishing on the web, I don't have to care about dpi right?
>>
>>91944232
Yes, if there's no way you'd be able to have a print version of your comic made, and you have no intention of ever doing so.

For example, if your comic is fanart, or if it uses animated GIFs, then by all means just make a web-only version. While dpi isn't really relevant, 72 or 96 dpi is standard for screens if you want a value to put in when setting up your files. Even then, work larger than normal, and scale down when publishing (usually 1.5 to 2x larger).

If it's an original creation of your own design, you'd be a fool not to consider possible future publication, or even just the ability to save out different sized versions for whatever reason.

While 300dpi is given as the minimum for print, consider making originals at 600 or even 1200 if you have the space and processor for it.

Any tips for drawing anatomy correctly?

No matter how many videos, book, and still life reference examples I use I can't seem to improve.
>>
>>91941686
Anon, /ic/ can give you a better answer to this question than this board.

It's hard to say how much time it will take you, but ten hours of practice a day is insane. At this pace, maybe it takes you one, two years from complete beginner, if you study the right things instead of just drawing whatever. Maybe you have the hardest time grasping the most basic concepts, and will never get there, it's tricky.
>>
>>91941686

Quality is subjective anon. Some people take years. Others can pick it up within a few months. Some take decades.

What's the rush?
>>
>>91942805
I draw porn of my characters all the time, but never see much of others
>>
>>91941686
Anon, it's not a matter of time. You may be the type to find gains in the "rush" but it could just as easily set you back. You begin trying to find short cuts instead of keeping rigid intent and vision.

10 hours a day is also quite a bit. Not trying to discourage you, we all have our passions, but I know juggling a soccer ball for 10 hours a day for a month and then laxing probably wouldn't have helped me as much as 3 hours a day for a few years.

IMO creativity is a well. If you spend 10 hours a day emptying the well eventually it will be depleted. Life is the rain that replenishes the well and helps us succeed in co-opting and replicating what we see for our artistic endeavors.
>>
>>91945701
To clarify, don't NOT draw because you think you've done too much per day. But don't agonize trying to keep that pace. 10 hours is alot.

Yeah, it's really hard to think of 6 different things for a dude's arms to be doing at any one time so I was thinking of having them fold unused hands underneath some kind of poncho across their abdomen.

That is literally the most basic and common tip for drawing anatomy. I appreciate you taking your time to give me advice, but as I've said I have read and done a few classes in this and what you've said isn't really helpful since everywhere I go that is the first thing that pops up. I have a Huion Giano (WH1409) and it's great. Size is the primary factor of a graphics tablet, and that one is the most for your money. As long as you can deal with the rechargable pen (which lasts like 2 weeks per charge under heavy use)

I had some terrible, terrible issues with monoprice's drivers (it refused to work for like 3 months, would intermittendly stop working and required a system restore every time, and it bricked my computer when I tried to uninstall the drivers. I had to reinstall windows and everything) and the tablets themselves are pretty low quallity.

Though, to be fair, they are very, very cheap.

I'd recommend one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/?iid=331800909562&&&adgroupid=40680863174&rlsatarget=pla-301251787857&abcId=1088866&adtype=pla&merchantid=113797648&poi=&googleloc=1006886&device=c&campaignid=805981323&crdt=0&chn=ps

They nicely shaped, reliable and don't waste any space.

Thanks.
It's from the final arch of the comic during which an ancient civilization reemerges and invades several nations around the globe. They target military infrastrucutre and infiltrate or throttle government institutions.

All the prior archs revolve around people with special abilities and the ways they use them for their own means or to benefit sociey - but they cancel each other out and so humanity is mostly unafected by these exceptional individuals.
But the invaders come from a different cultural evelotion: in their society the 'enhanced people' rose to power and pooled their abilities into a nexus that facilitates all operations in their system of society - as opposed to technological advancement in the human world.

Pic related: First phase of the invasion, cloaked vessels incapacitate a major power plant.

cont.

In the invaders' scoiety all processes are maintained by the network of 'abilities' and all internal struggle is created by questions of distribution. For example, the production, maintenance and propulsion of vessels like pic related is not technological but 'ability-based' and that source is finite, just like elctricity or manpower or computation in the human world. There's an all-powerful cast of ability users that control the 99 percent of the population that are either drones or soldiers. Posting some recent stroyboards.
I put a bit more effort into it this time but I realize the art is still shit, this is merely a blueprint.

So here's a chapter that's supposed to come directly or shortly after the flashback arc and show how much MC has grown and set up some new plot points.

The world this all takes place in is pretty much equivalent to early 80s society, so no internet or highly advanced commercial computers. Organized crime is under pressure from international agencies and there's strong telecomunication surveilance. So crime syndicates use carrier pigeons (among other mehtods) for communication.

In this chapter, MC raids a floating base for the carrier pigeon network and gains intel related to the murderers of his mentor.

2/2

MC works with a herd of killer whales to take out the criminals.
At first I wanted to use some extra pages to show how the pigeon network works: decription, encription, vetenary people for the birds, how gangsters send and receive messages and so on. But I decided it would hurt the pacing. Maybe I'll bring it up again in a later chapter.

After the raid MC trades off the base to an intelligence agency and they turn it into a honey pot to gather syndicate intel...

Finally a thread!

Here's the page I finished today.

It's been pretty hard to be doing pages because I've been so busy with animation.

I'm also currently stressing out because Harry Partidge is watching the animation I finished a while ago.
>>
Do you guys prefer first chapters that tell complete stories, or first chapters that just set up the premise, characters, and kick off the story? I really like it when stories accomplish both, but I'm having trouble formulating one for a comic I'm planning.
>>
>>91949951
shitty answer but I really have no preference. Just write an organic single story and if it displays a good status quo for the character think of using it as an intro.

That's really what you want to set forth in the first issue. More than the character's "character" and the full plot (nod to the main vein of it at least) you want to set the tone and voice. Readers are smart enough to know this isn't the character in-full to start or that the main plot isn't going to be in full swing necessarily.

first of all, study bone structures and find a way to simplify them down. second of all, learn how muscles structures work and practice with differently sized muscle groups depending on the character you want to draw.

If you're trying to get a more flowing style, make the bones and the muscles have a softer, more elastic feel to them. obviously not full on rubber, but making the overall structure look softer will help you achieve that. likewise for a sturdy character make then rigid and stiff.

Here's an example sketch I did a few years back, it might help you grasp what I'm talking about.

Study Hampton and do a lot of figure drawings. Focus on getting proportions correct as well as conveying the volume of body parts. Think three dimensionally. Doing life drawings helps as well.

I don't know what you're doing or what you've done. However things that helped me.
1. Think in terms of the wireframe, and where the light breaks, always.
2. Have a plan for what you want in terms of poses/composition, either in your head or as a sketch.
3: get a big newsprint pad and some charcoal and spend twenty minutes to an hour doing 20 second to 120 second gesture drawings on quickposes. If you can go longer do so, but don't make yourself nuts. This is an excellent warm up excercise. Note: they aren't supposed to look good.
4: Do not worry about short term results.
5: suck it up.

start off by documenting everything you want in the game. what style of game you want, who your target audience is, how long the gane will be, every character, dialogue option, item, all of the mechanics you want, how the story will play out, what kind of secrets you'll put in (if at all), how those can be accessed, whether or not you want branching paths etc etc.

once you've done that you can start making a few really simple concepts to help sell the idea, then your job is to find a game engine that you can use to make the game (or code a specialized one yourself but that's not easy at all) and either learn to code or get some friends to help you out.

If you keep your project simple and low intensity enough, you can make it almost entirely solo, just look at environmental station alpha.

Zootopia concept art? Good taste, my man. You should think more about your focal points and using tones in your composition to guide people's eyes around the page. In both of these illustrations, the focus of the image is the brightest part, and the dark areas are used to frame the scene or guide your eye towards the focal point.

An episodic structure works well because you can give everyone their tun to shine and can space out world-development between the smaller adventures.
Plus, it allows you to jump straight into the action and more immediately catch the reader's interest; you start out small and develop towards something big

because even though the tone is generally "not the best but you can do it!" it's kinda smarmy in these threads. People making muddy, ugly comics with bad writing and TERRIBLE bubbling and lettering (seriously just do white bubbles with black letters). Anything that looks hand drawn is glossed over to comment on the newest digital purple pig looking OC and friends comic.

take >>91945798 for example.
I don't necessarily know anything about it but this is one of the few that has a visually appealing style. A coherent one. It's literally depressing to want to get better and see this get no sort of response while muddy, generic circle character pages get love (in the form of a response of ANY sort.)

The quality of these threads wholly depends on who you interact with in them.

Sometimes drawthreads are better because it's not just the same crappy flash style you see in the HYW threads.

Grumble grumble. Fine, here's Ruby - the only picture I have on my computer, I'm mostly drawing pen and paper right now and just wanted to see if the eyeshadow was too much. It's not. I really like it, though I do need to pick a better color. I think a softer blue might be better. I wasn't sure what to do with her collar for a while. I love the handcuff key, but thought that would be borrowing too much from Doom Kitty (this was also when I was thinking of making her black instead of gray) but eventually decided that having it change would be best. Cross, pentagram, key, that sort of thing.

She's a witch's familiar, in love with her master. The comic's about lewd and fun hijinx as she tries to seduce her human owner - who is some kind of normal person that doesn't want to fuck a cat. Her best friend is a bat name Bela, can't decide if she'd be better as a vampire bat or fruit bat, and a spider can't decide if she should be a pet tarantula or a random house spider
>>
>>91963384
that's adorable. i love everything about that premise
if you want my two cents,
>cat nose should probably be pink unless it's a much darker coat color. s'just how melanin goes
>darker blue would indeed work nicely for eyeshadow. less is more.
>maybe a bobbypin on the collar, representing picking any handcuffs or locks
>the best bats are honduran white bats, but otherwise i'd decide by geography. vampire bats are from chupacabra country whereas fruit bats are african. where has this witch been? Like, Jafar has been to the caribbean because he has Iago. it tells part of the story
>As for the spider, make it a giant house spider like a huntsman. That way it's nice and big but less generic than the same ol' tarantula. plus those things live everywhere and survive in tons of climates

The colors are definitely tbd, that's the first picture I did of her in color. The only definites I have are that her fur is gray she's very self-conscious that she's not a real black cat and that her lip is red, matching her collar which is how her master decided on her name. I think the general shape of her eye is good, though I need to work on her eyelashes more. I can't decide it I just want the three top lashes, or if I want to add in two more lower lashes as well. I think the extra two bottom lashes make her more cute than sexy or elegant though so I think I'll stick with the three top lashes only.

Her body's pretty far along too. I'll draw one up tomorrow to get some advice. I can't decide if she should have ribs showing or not, and I'm having trouble with her butt shape.

The bat's a pet, just like Ruby, so there's lots of flexibility with her species there. I thought vampire bat was a bit too on the nose and fruit bat was a bit too obvious a subversion, so I might go with a third option lie a honduran white bat. The spider being a huntsman could certainly work.

>>91964520
If it makes you feel better, I have another comic idea about a cat and dog detective pair, but that will require a bit more artistic and writing/paneling skill since it will be actual stories and not just three panel jokes, so that will come later.
>>
>>91965508
have you considered one solid piece for the lashes, ending in a point? it's very catlike and traditional, plus it's a fuckton easier to draw.
>>
>>91965822
That's a good idea too. The general shape of the eye I like, but the eyelashes are definitely still something I'm trying to settle on. I think the multi-lash is going to be more fitting for her personality, but I'll draw a couple other mock ups.

One lash strikes me as a bit more standoff-ish. Regal and elegant, or maybe cool and composed. But the three lashes make her seem more melodramatic, like a primadonna. But then if you add TOO many lashes, it circles around to cute and innocent, or maybe more towards brat than diva. Or maybe I'm overanalyzing things way too much.
>>
>>91966206
no actually that's just right, the separate lashes is more prim and elegant, if that's what you're going for.
>>
>>91966349
Alright, as long as I'm not crazy. She's the over-emotional, melodramatic type for sure. If she were a person, she'd be the kind that has and uses a fainting couch, while peeking with one eye open to make sure that the scene was having the desired effect on whoever else was in the room.
>>
That moment when you realize your perspective for a scene is completely fucked and you just say "screw it" because correcting it would ruin to composition

I've never been a big fan of the ol' -cubus family. they seem redundant. Any demon's into sex in my book. Still, that's an idea. If you like futa I guess. Certainly the premise fits. I recall in Pornucopia, the incubus and succubus were the same demon, who could switch on demand. Having a bit of each certainly fits with that premise. Does that tie into the worldbuilding in some way? Like are all their offspring odd in some manner?
>>
>>91970616
>they seem redundant. Any demon's into sex in my book.

You're wrong tho?

Incubus and Succubus are about making babies. They were basically a way of explaining about Farmer Brown's daughter got knocked up by the guy three doors down when they definitely never had sex. It must have been a succubus that stole his sperm, and gave it to an incubus to impregnate her.
>>
>>91970616
>Any demon's into sex in my book.
That's true in this story as well! The particular power of succubus in this setting is that they seduce, corrupt and enthrall people, while other demons just rape everything.

I've been thinking of doing a NSFW comic for a while. And then tonight I had a bit of an epiphany on how the magic in this setting works, and started writing down all sorts of ideas for demons, ranging from typical things like succubus to bile blobs and giant blind rape dogs that can smell pussy from miles away and thumb-sucking shortstack imps that spend all their time suckling on cow-demons.

Eventually I came to cambions and realized it kind of fit with the dickgirl thing. It'd be a nice source of conflict for the character. As a cambion she would be forever tainted to any humans, but she's not totally depraved like the demons. And dickgirl naturally fits with the theme of being half one thing and half another.

As for -why- she's a dickgirl, not sure yet. Originally she was gonna be a boy that got transformed, but as a cambion she's a bit different from the previous incarnation. I could write it that she can just switch her genitals, like you said. That'd probably be the best way to go about it.

It's still in the works, obviously. mostly just posting here for ideas- like the transforming penis and haunted vagina. I don't want to go too idea guy because I don't have much to show yet. But I'll post some character designs when I can. Being half-demon gives me some cool opportunities I think. Obviously won't be posting the NSFW here, but a good deal will also be sfw. it'll be a fun adventure story like Zelda but with sex weird fetishes and rape sometimes/often.
>>
>>91971130
which is even dumber. any myth that's obviously mythical within the context of the story takes me right out of it. Like, I can't have a gulon when it's painfully clear that's just a wolverine
>>
>>91971294
ah, so the cubeys are the romantics. I dig that.
>fun adventure story like zelda but with sex

So did the three people you all bitched at to leave (Bones, Dewd and Scribbs) so why aren't you happy?

These threads dying so often, sometimes barely 100 posts in, is evidence of the fact that no one really cares around here, and that """"conversation"""" only happens when its fucking arguing and bitching about what someone else is doing.

Then you guys say these threads are "dying" because all the good artists left.

No, they're dying because the people who got fucking tired of the bitching left, and people you bitch about also finally left. Which is what you wanted. But in your crusade to point fingers, you just attack everyone that's left.

Look lil nigga, I'mma give you some advice. I don't know if this is your first time dealing with an online community or what, but what other people say and think? Doesn't fuckin matter dude. An online community only has power over you if you actually give a fuck about what they say. By not giving a fuck? You gain all your power back. Sure, you might not be able to join their secret club and cozy up to some anons or whatever, fine. But this strange pissing contest over the moral compass this general should have is arbitrary and bullshit.

I'm a little blitzed right now, but essentially, you can only control yourself and your posts. You can't control what "the community" thinks or values or whatever bc it's all bullshit anyway. Plus retarded.

Post your shit, have a thick skin, and ignore the bitch ass niggas with an attitude. That's how you do it. If you get worked up about what people think on this mongolian basket weaving site you're a fag, my man.
>>

You must be either super blitzed, or replying to the wrong post.

I never said anything about the quality of critique around here, nor the quality of the artwork.

Just that people get tired of the shitflinging. I said nothing about being able to accept critique, just that people get tired of the totally irrelevant back-and-forth that goes on in these threads.

Probably 3/4 of the posts in these threads are unhelpful, or detrimental to the point of these threads. That's why people leave, when there's so much irrelevant bullshit being posted. Not because someone was critical of their art.

How does everyone else here get over this mental hurdle of drawing? it helps me to think 'well, if I don't keep going, it'll be that much worse in another ten years,' but it's still sometimes hard to think that there are so many people so much younger than me that are already so much better than I will ever be simply because I didn't start sooner.
>>
Its probably been done before, but I'm toyng with an idea for a webcomic about how american heros differ from japanese heros. Like Spiderman and Superman don't have to go through several differant forms to power up or use super flashy special attacks by shouting out names to defeat there opponants. So I thought it would be fun to write stories that compare the two. I just needs a few ideas to work on.
>>
>>91973042
A lot of prior "good" artists left after they got one or two decent critiques of what they were doing. People who have what it takes tend to have better networks to discuss their faults with while the people who need outside assistance more often than not are so fragile they stop posting.

>>
>>91975815
Could be neat to have them fighting the same enemy at different points. Show the hero differences by showcasing how they'd fight different villains.

Like Spiderman would have lots of trouble fighting a giant monster, but street level thugs are no problem. Conversely, sentai teams are designed for fighting monsters that can grow when they're defeated, but they'd have trouble with a villain who's willing to fight dirty and harm innocents. Don't really have time for that charge up sequence when Doc Ock has a gun to your wife's head.

I know this is a bit of a stretch to ask this on this thread but do any of you do web comic/drawing commissions? NO I AM NOT LOOKING TO BUY FROM ANY OF YOU.

I just want to be able to make some money on the side while doing a personal webcomic so I was wondering what sites you frequent and what types of commissions you do to get quick money. At the very least do you know what the biggest market for commissions/which can net you the most monetary gain?

I assume porn/fetish art is the stuff that can get you a lot of traction, but my pride prevents me from going there. I don't want my identity, both in online persona and irl, and my comic to be associated with that sorta thing. I would probably take measures to avoid connections if I ever did, but that'd be very difficult.

I'm not necessarily looking for money to pay my rent etc but more to do on the side when I have time off of my real job.

More Ghost Puncher!

This is the main antagonist of the series, El Jefe De Los Muertos.
He is the Under-world heavyweight champion and the driving force behind not only Atlas' goals but the backbone of hell's very own entertainment business.

The visual gimmick with this character is that after every punch he throws, his arm shatters and falls off after impact, leaving another arm to grow in it's place afterwards with a stronger bone in its place.

After all the years of boxing, his bone's breakage and regrowth has caused them to be insanely tough which allows his punches to be the strongest in the under-world.

This here is Lon Chaney, he serves as Atlas' trainer and best friend.

Throughout his past life, Lon resided in the Anubis Pantheon, a colossal statue of the Egyptian God Anubis that was hung above the Cathedral Renegade (The most grand boxing ring in the under-world) to be the judge of each heart-pounding match against El Jefe. Lon's decisions were precise and absolutely accurate due to the ethereal powers of the Anubis Pantheon. However, one day El Jefe had a perfect draw against the legendary Thanatos, and the Pantheon could not assist Lon in the ultimate decision.

Lon gave the win to Thanatos, ending Jefe's 42 million winning streak.
With fury in his heart after the devastating loss, Lon was banished from the Anubis Pantheon.

After some time, Lon eventually discovers and befriends Atlas' and with his thousands of years worth of experience, he is the perfect trainer for a human wanting to step foot in the Cathedral Renegade with El Jefe.

Nice logo but if I can offer some advice, maybe give the 'Ghost' part a thick dark outline to make it more visible. The Rick and Morty logo is a good example of that being used.

A logo needs to be easy to read on whatever background it's on, and sometimes dark outlines around bright colors can really help with that.

If I am drawing something I want, I actually sit there and try to do it the best thing ever.

I dont draw shit that does not interest me, I draw stuff I am actually interested whether its drawing from imagination or study of a model (more like gesture in my case)

I want to make study of battle angle Alita because someone said that once you study someone, you repeat his line and his hand movement and you kinda understand why he did what he did and how he did it and eventually it rubs off on you.

Looking at Yoshitaka Amano you can see inspiration with Klimt, its basically in his every picture.
I sure as fuck would like to try even if I suck now, who knows, maybe something will come out of it.

Don't think about it so hard, just thrust yourself into it, and work at what you want to achieve. Don't worry about the end, enjoy what you can do now and keep building upon that.

If you're working with some hypothetical/imaginary idea of a perfect end-result, you're either going to drive yourself insane and forsake your friends and family, or give up and then probably shoot yourself.

Also, read a book.

A real book.
>>
>>91941686
Its not how long but how you approach study.
If you just doodle or drawing stuff you like, some aspects improve but I found once I learn about some proper technique or construction or anything and apply it in drawing, this is where I see instantaneous improvement.

I aimlessly doodled for years drawing only stuff I am familiar with and using perspective I was familiar with but my drawing started improving once I started watch proko, read books on perspective and such.
If I practice stuff I learn then the practice makes me improve, otherwise it was a waste of time.

Something you don't see said enough. Much of the terrible pacing and writing in web comics (and comics at large) is that peoples concept of "real book" is Harry Potter.

If you want to write good stories you must read good stories and because classics are relegated to spark notes these days almost nobody has a basis in good literature.

>>
>>91983839
Just do it. You're going to get labeled whatever you do, but as long as you spread the marketing to regular folks and don't focus on that niche fandom you should be okay.

Also, I suppose it depends a little on whether you're drawing 'talking animals' or 'people with animal heads and tails' as typical Furry stuff tends towards the latter.

Of course there's more to it, but I'll keep that a secret.

Guys, how do we push the webcomic medium? Music? Animation? Moving parts? Interactivity? Which would do the best?
>>
>>91984485
YOU use common sense. I have actually considered making a biblical comic for just that reason. it'd be really interesting not leaving out the shit everyone leaves out. considering I typically can't stand talking to other believers, they need this kind of shit to wake them up and get them out of their weird amish little cubbyholes.

main problem is there's so much detail to fill in, I'd have to do fucktons of research. also it's long as balls.
>>
>>91984690
I think animation and interactivity are the best areas to work in. a few have experimented in music, but it's very hard to do well. even Kid Radd only did it rarely.

Just make better comics. You know what elevated movies from being seen as pulp media to an art form? Movies that tackled deeper issues in an artful way. They didn't need gimmicks to do it, they needed good writing, directing, and cinematography.
Gimmicks like interactivity and music can be fun, but in the end they're just gimmicks, they usually either add nothing to the story or just distract from it. I've seen hardly a webcomic that utilized them half as well as Homestuck did. If you want to push the medium brush up on your writing and art skills.

After making the main characters for the web (and for myself), I'm painting a panoramic view of the main settling of my comic. Yep, I already noticed. I'll add darker and lighter colors, but by know I'm still figuring out how I want the general scenery to look. The left is mostly a city, and the right is mostly country seaside with a few buildings here and there: but I still don't know which color I want to pun on the left: it's a city, a modern city, mostly gray, but with a few marks of bright color. And the right is mostly bright green and earth colors.

And... dark grey and teal are the main colors in the center, if I follow my original painting (and I want).

How about the fact that astro boys hair isnt hair but literal metal. Does anyone know what the hell Yakko, Wakko and Dot are? How about Hulks pants? Why are sonics arms blue?

Most of these are jokes, but I'm just saying these were designed for the character yet people tend to ignore or just brush it aside because it doesn't affect the character or story really. But hell I'm no expert I'm willing to change it it's just "doesn't belong to him isn't too sound of a reason" especially since you saw them in the first place.

But besides that Lume design was something that I tried to mess with for years hell if you want I'll draw sime examples of what he looked like before.

Dont take this as "muh style" because this "comic" has many different character shapes and all. Lume is a Poodle that people will interpret as a Sheep, Dog,Mouse,Rabbit and etc with floating ears that is mostly black and white and can't talk...

In the end I might change it to something else, but I made him like this cause this design really put a smile on my (Bored) face. Hell I didn't even care much about the ears their kinda like a visual gag for the character.

This comment is too long...

But lemme here your rebuttal, I'm one to take critique if it means improving.
