Consideration to make: Jackie gets a new look (Assume for the sake of argument she is a mermaid) and they just aren't spoiling it in the intro until it actually happens midway through the season.

Would be the safest thing to do with how easily things leak, and it's not the first time an intro will have changed slightly as the series goes on to reflect changes.

I dislike kelly as a main group member. I don't feel she brings anything and her lack of narrative history or significance with the viewer further distances her from any poignant use.
It would be far more appropriate to bring in characters with more build up than her. Unless of course it is literally too dangerous for other characters but even then screen time can be easily split between action and SoL
