There's no real reason for them all being together again and Jack didn't help them. We've only got 10 episodes. I wish we could've gone through every single minor character like Momotaro but I'll take what I can get

Demongo cameo was kind of confusing.

The others make sense since we're alrady setting up for the Scotsman's ghost to build a big army of callback characters, but Demongo wouldn't be fighting on Jack's side were that the case.

Demongo probably came to give Aku an army of callback villians to through at Jack's army when they invade. That should increase the number of action scenes before Aku comes to obliterate them in a few seconds.
