I really liked Vance Astro using a symbiote as a replacement containment suit.

I wish it would've gave him spidey-powers and he ended up a bizarre amalgam of a spidey-cap character but I don't recall the suit doing anything but serving as a containment suit.

If you think that all symbiotes give people spider powers you are a casual and need to leave the thread. The only reason Venom has spider powers is because Peter Parker wore it and it retained some of his abilities.
