Why does Titmouse, and other perceived as good studios, fall into the trap of awesome animation and SHIT TIER WRITING so often? Is it really so much to ask to not get writing suitable for 5 year old television?
Also seen this happen with Laika, specifically Kubo being average from a writing standpoint. You'd think that these studios would go the extra mile to make their content truly exemplary in all facets since they had already gotten recognition for their art.
tl;dr I can't take this shit

You seem to be under the assumption that finding writers that are good is easy. The stage at which the writing needs to be complete is so much further upstream from production on some of these shows it's no wonder they become tragedies.

Moonbeam City was good, fuck you.

Ok but it could've been great. The writing was inconsistent as fuck.
Sometimes you'd have a great episode but it was ruined by sophomoric shit half the ep.

It had the misfortune of having a weak pilot and Rob Lowe playing the lead.
The supporting characters and the OST were godtier.

Every episode felt like a parody of a much better show. I loved the A E S T H E T I C but the writing should have been better.

It improved as the season went on. Some of the best gags of the series were in the last episode.

What's wrong with Rob Lowe?
