Kung Fu Panda 2 is one of the greatest kung fu movies ever made.

How did 3 compare, I don't remember much hype for it

First Class.

I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed it and how graphic certain scenes were.

Kingsman: The Secret Service

That movie came out of nowhere, and was the first one I've actively seen twice in theatres.

I saw the trailers and completely ignored it. Just the fact that it starred Johnny Depp made me think "meh". Damn was I wrong.

Rango and KFP 2 deserve places as benchmarks for their genres I don't mean animation but Westerns and Kung Fu movies respectively.

Too much focus on the pandas, which unfortunately was inevitable considering the movie was about the god damn pandas

Good villain, but lacking compared to the previous two, not much really happened in the end

I think a major issue is that I was pleasantly surprised by Kung Fu Panda 2 because it felt like a natural sequel, it logically picked up where the last one ended, and actually had some character exploration, the third one was fun, but lacked the surprising depth of the previous two titles

It was a drop in quality because they took a series of movies escalating in darkness and then turned it into a much more comical film. I wouldn't relaly have an issue with this is the comedy was better, but having the focus on the Pandas meant you could only repeat the same jokes over and over againa bout how they're lazy, fat or just eat a lot. That was it. The villain could have been very cool, but in a different kind of movie; here he was just misused.

The previous movies as well knew when to keep it somehow serious, but this one adds comedy in scenes that could have gone without it.
I will however say that KP3 had the most impressive visuals of the three of them; the introductory scene in the spirit realm looked amazing in the theater.

When I was a kid I used to watch Hercules a lot, but as I grew older and started hearing criticism of the movie and how it wasn't that good I started thinking that I just had bad taste as a kid or that I didn't know better.
Recently I rewatched it and by God, it was even better than what I remembered. The music, the action, the characters, the dilemmas... It was a great flick and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

It was okay. The action and drama isn't as good as 2, only one or two of the serious scenes really play that well, but I thought the comedy was really strong. It throws a lot of jokes at you and most of them work really well.

Villain is tragically underplayed, but he's got the best bad guy theme in the series so far.

DreamWorks can make good movies, when they don't shoehorn popsongs and characters with raised eyebrows, although those were lately stolen by Disney(Tangled,Frozen,Zootopia) , so they need to come up with a different magnet for general audience.

I liked HTTYD and Croods enough to buy them on DVD. Madagascar 3 was fine as well.

Megamind has a much clearer idea of how it defines 'heroes' and 'villains' but also makes it clear what qualifies 'good' vs 'evil'

Despicable Me focuses just on Gru and his personal relationships and a bit on him softening up as a professional but MegaMind's theme is both more expansive and gets more focus in the film itself

But they didnt have a fucking mascot for those god-awful web games so it the superior movie doesnt get a sequel

No, because it's not like the movie is complete ass. If you like KFP, it retains a lot of the same elements that presumably made you enjoy the series in the first place. It's not like they went completely off the bend and turned it all to shit. It's serviceable at worst, pretty good at best. I did enjoy it quite a bit.
The villain wasn't as strong, sure, and some of the Chi thing was an asspull but it's still a fun movie

Exemplified near the end, where the final battle is just one "lol panda funny fat furry lol" joke after another. Then just as I'm about to lose all interest, they end up in the Spirit Realm and Po does that Dragon Warrior Aura thing. I'm instantly hype...

The biggest problem with this series thats especially apparent in the third movie is Po has to be completely central to the story, leaving little room for the other characters to develop. It worked out just fine in the first 2 movies, but in the 3rd Po has little room to grow that much any more and becomes a detriment to his own film
