The issue is not that the crane fight is outlandish, it's that it's tonally off. We're supposed to be awed by huge mechanical things clashing loudly with each other to determine the ending of the movie, that's really more Transformers or Fast and Furious than Tintin.

Most Tintin fights are usually low key and low stakes and look more like Kato fighting dudeweedlmao in Gondry's Green Hornet than what we got in the movie.

Constantine is an excellent adaption of the material for a WASP audience with a lead actor who is the best impersonator of dopeheads working in the industry.

If they kept any of the britishness at all, the movie would've ended up in the foreign film-section next to The Full Monty and Son of Rambow and wasting the actor's talents was out of the question as well.

The first live action movie was good, the second was also relatively good even if Jamel Debbouze was playing himself instead of Numerobis. After that the trailer for Asterix at the Olympic Games make me lose all interest in the live action movie, it seems that the movie was just made to be a bunch of cameo and not to be an Asterix movie.

Yeah with Eric et Ramzy and it was a German coproduction like Asterix at the Olympics. There was also another Lucky Luke movie with Dujardin. Not sure where the scene you're talking about comes from as I've seen neither.

Jackson's taking his time on it because the Hobbit's production didn't go well and wanted to develop new technology at WETA to make the films more naturalistic and make green screening less of a problem. Tintin was done with all three principals (Serkis, Bell and Craig) on set and being able to interact with each other via mocap so it will probably be less of a problem.

The Crane fight was really quick and almost anti-climactic though. It was trying to service both. Though plenty of Tintin comics have ended with police chases and shootouts so it's not out of character for the books for a big climax. It just felt weird

But the ending wasn't determined by the crane fight.
It was determined by Haddock turning down the bottle and instead taking the badguy down by using it as projectiles.
The ending was determined by him knowing about the smallest lil mistake on a map, for he was a true man of the sea like a Haddock should be.

Good news anon. In interviews they said Prisoners of the Sun would be one of the sequels. I think they also showed interest in adapting Destination Moon, which was always one of my favorites as a kid because SPACE.

Speaking of movie adaptations they did make a shitty Dylan dog one. Cookie cutter Alone in the Dark tier movie.
Original comic is something between exploitation and satire with alot of surreal stuff in it.
On the other hand comic writer did make his own movie that is really good and connected to original work in its themes. Totally worth a watch.

The series is one of the better thrillers on the market. At its core it's about Batman being a heterosexual with friends and an actual business rather than a lonely gay furry with a credit card.

Van Hamme also wrote a series about Rambo as a heterosexual.

It's been a while since I watched the movie and read the comics but I remember it being pretty faithful in spirit.

I think I get you when you talk about it being bigger in scale but I just took that as part of being a cinematic adaptation, the rest of the adventures, characters and mystery felt pretty Tintin to me.
It didn't feel like a Tintin comic but it did feel like a Tintin theatrical film.
