What is your opinion on the Disney animated movie, Atlantis: The Lost Empire?
Waisted potential. It had the most based setting of any Disney film, but mouse only cared about soulless sequals at the time.
Great all around.
Fantastic epic ending.
Beautiful score.
Best Disney Girl. Fight Me!

Dis.
The whole movie should have been the first act, and arriving at the city should have been the climax.

>best girl
you're correct

Was talking about Kida but she was nice too.

Kida was hot but boring.
Extremely ambitious. Should have been a better movie. If it was it could have challenged Shrek properly and then maybe the current animation landscape looks wildly different.

a modern adventure masterpiece
Peter Jackson could have learned something from watching it before he made his King Kong adaptation and many other directors/screenwriters should take notes when watching it
it introduces a phenomenal cast of characters and keeps the audience interested at every turn and keeps the action spread out with time between to actually take in the story and lore of the setting before sending us back in for more action
the ending is also 10/10
Could have been better.

Leviathan attack is one of the best action scenes in history of animation. Gives me chills every single time.
Fuck all the "classic" Disney remakes this movies NEEDS a live action reboot

>Marge honey...I dont think he's coming back

The villain was pretty weak but I honestly never cared because the protagonists are all so great

>Implying they would give enough money for it to be as epic as it deserves to be
gonna post artwork everytime the thread is low now
>>91638087
Unengaging. Titan AE does everything this movie attempts to do and does it better.
just rewatched it because of this thread
the pacing is awful
some of the dialogue makes no sense

setting and atmosphere
Do you think this would have been better if it was some kind of mini-series instead of a movie?
Great atmosphere and world-building ruined by mediocre main storyline.
Yet Avatar blatantly copypasted it and was held "a cinematic masterpiece".
>>91638087
Not as good as everyone says. Enjoyable, but throughout the whole thing you begin to easily see why it isn't a top Disney classic
Treasure Planet was better, at least storyline and characterizations-wise.
Atlantis did have better production values though.

>Do you think this would have been better if it was some kind of mini-series instead of a movie?
I think it could work. It could involve aliens and ancient Egypt too!
>>91644147
Wasn't this supposed to be a trilogy that got cut down to one movie?

Why the fuck was Sweets animation so janky compared to everything else
I remember a lot of hype surrounding this when it came out.
I remember liking it too.
Way too short. The pacing is completely fucked, and we don't spend enough time on the boat or with the characters, although most are endearing enough to make an impression anyway.
Those crucial flaws aside, it's pretty good. Gorgeous art style, great animation, and fun characters. The story's pretty predictable, but there's nothing egregiously wrong with it.
Also, some superb waifus. I don't think any Disney film has a better selection. Delicious brown princess, sultry aryan ubermensch, tsundere lolita chiquta.
>>91638087
It was utter shit. Not funny at all, way too violent, and had a dogshit art style in comparison to Pixar films.
>>91645046
There was supposed to be a TV series (with a crossover with Gargoyles!) but the plans were nixed after the movie bombed. The first three episodes were slapped together into the shitty sequel.
>>91638087
The villain was awful, just completely flat and uninteresting.
>>91644147
Yeah. There's enough depth and action for six-eight episodes.
>>91645362
>dogshit artsyle
Work on your bait a little more next time.
I love it and Treasure Planet as pretty underrated disney films that should probably get a live action, real-props-and-sets, adventure movie remake. It deserves way more loveAudrey best girl
>>91645426
Everything is so flat and artificial. Nothing feels alive. Instead it's like it's drawn on paper.
It's completely legitimate criticism.
It's literally Stargate, down to Milo basically being 2D James Spader.
It's fine, but every time I think about it I just want to rewatch Stargate.
>>91638087
I got bored.
It's pretty though.
>>91645437
That's a problem with the animation, rather than the artstyle.
>>91644147
No, its best quality was its production value, Disney series are always a couple of notches under their cinematic releases in terms of technical prowess, and you don't want your early 2000s CGI to be cheap.
>>91640135
An Atlantis live-action reboot would invariably get called a Stargate ripoff.
