Adult Swim and CN are basically two different networks sharing a channel. Samurai Jack was picked up by Adult Swim, not Cartoon Network. It's the same reason why something like Gumball or AT doesn't air at night during the toonami and adult swim block, not because it can't, but because it's not their's.

Adult Swim has it's time slots because it's geared towards and older audience. All of the shows Adult Swim airs couldn't air during day hours not just because of simple formality but because they have too much violence, sex, and general vulgarity. For two episodes the distinction between SJ S5 and previous seasons was clear. Now it's not so clear. Mos tof th episodes could fit into the previous seasons and no one would have bet an eye. It was just the two episodes that were relatively edgy.

Cartoon Network didn't want the show, even if it was censored, it looks like a few of the next episodes will turn up the blood and gore again. Judging by the preview of Jack soaked in blood holding his sword.

It's not about gore for the sake of it., it's just Genndy doing what he wanted in the first place without restriction.

Notice Ashi throwing that guy in a suit into the equipment and killing him, in a tame way? In the old days, that would have to be a robot, for no good reason.

Its not just about blood. Remember that the Scotsman just got vaporized, there was a village of dead creatures lying in the rubble, and their children were brain washed and forced to try and kill jack. At the end of the episode Jack thought the children had been killed and his mind finally broke. While all of that is not as mature as some other adult swim shows, it certainly does not belong in the same block as nu ppg and ttg.
