Someone asked in the Serenity thread what weird comic would be posted next.
This was a small indy comic book printed in the 80s when your LCS was likely to carry quite a few of them, many one-shots. At the time, no one knew who the hell BMB was.
See how many of his enduring traits as a creator were to be seen in 1992.
Writer, artist, letterer extraordinaire.
No I will not go back and scan this more cleanly.
The title is a play on a then-well known manganime named "Mai the Psychic Girl" which I'm told has no influence whatsoever on this book.
So empowering
Repeated panels? in MY Bendis?

Oh, Bendis.
>>91620524
Man, Bendis must have some serious clout if he can pull awards like this. I can shit a better script.
You are looking at the creative mind of the next Marvel EiC.
bump for weird shit
I can't read any of this tho
>>91620682
If Will Eisner saw what gets awards in his name, I think there would be lots of murderation.
>>91620715
I'll post a mediafire link to hi-res scans of this at the end.
Somehow this publication never appears in his Wikipedia page or his autobiographical comics.
how many of you are still suffering along with me
I'm so lonesome
The 90s were a special time.
15 years too early to be a zany SoL webcomic
tragic really
He could write Superman if he wanted to, really
>>91620642
she is on drugs
How has Bendis not gotten a legit screenwriting job already, I ask you
>>91621098
She's literally retarded, that's the joke
Shrek is life, Shrek is love.
We're heading into the home stretch here, kids. Thoughts so far?

>Missed some parts of last year's Storytime of Pain
>All archives don't have pictures
Fuck it, at least I have this year to look forward to.
Luke Cage before he got the restraining order
>>91620682
2000-2004/5 Bendis was great though. Notice how the awards stopped flowing in after he was done with Daredevil?
Healthy respect for the medium and the publisher about to make him famous here
>>91621255
Notice how no one wanted Powers and even PSN cancelled it after 2 seasons with a shoestring budget?
3 more to go including this one, superfriends
And done.

>Mai the Psychic Girl
What??? When the fuck was Mai the Psychic Girl ever big enough to warrent a reference like this?
>>91621338
>Dedicate the whole first third of the story to explain the concept
>Make it extremely narrative driven so you don't have to worry much the "show" part, the only reason of this being a comic is to me to draw movie references in the background
>Be soo bland trying to mimic the "sarcastic self-aware" asshole that you end looking even dorkier than the character that you want to make look dorkly
>Give up the concept already in the middle, just make the story about "whatever"
>N-Not all stories have to be the same, tha-that was the moral.... I-I got you guys, i was being meta and self-aware all along!
>>91620472
Well, the backgrounds are repeated but there is at least new stuff on front of them, panels now are legit the same shit.
>>91620406
I saw a movie like this once

>Comic Book Cop-Outs And Cliches Vol II by ??? Conway
Is that supposed to be a G? Is it supposed to be G. Conway as in Gerry Conway? Cause I gotta say that at least Gerry Conway never wrote Civil War II.
>>91621319
I'm not sure what your point is.
>>91620541
