Why do /co/mic youtube channels never seem to have any real insight on the books they're talking about? Strip Panel Naked is the only one who has some form of discussion in its videos. The rest are pretty much just Recap Videos, Explanation Videos (Which pretty much just recap shit), DYK (Did You Know) Videos (Not even good ones, they're so basic tier shit almost anyone who's read a comic knows it already and will only impress casuals). They're so..... safe, and bland, and requires no real effort other than just having read the book. There's no passion or creativity here. No critique. ComicBookGirl19 had a cool Morrison Retrospective with New X-Men and Flex Mentallo but that bitch jumped on to movie and tv shit now.
Fuck I'd like to see a discussion on how a character / writer / artist has evolved through the years, in depth editorials on the current state of the industry, comparisons between the 90s Variant and EXTREME and Events boom to the 10s Variant and QUIRKY and Events boom.
by god out of the four of these faggots only one channel actually bothers to share opinions. And it sucks because they're faggots.

also Green Arrow Chili Cooking Video when?
It is probably because most people watching the video have not read the comic in question. There are far, far more people who have picked up, say, Spider-Man once in their life and dropped it than people who have been following Spider-Man throughout its current story arc. As such, the number of people who want a critical analysis of the current arc of Spider-Man are going to be relatively small. Most of the rest of the audience is just going to tune it out and drop the channel.
But the number of people who are curious about what Spider-Man is up to, what plot silliness is currently happening, and if it is overall decent or bad? That's going to apply to a lot of people. And so, a lot of people prefer the channels which mostly just go over what's been happening, without much depth.

>Recap Videos, Explanation Videos (Which pretty much just recap shit)
This shit triggers me. I'll look for a review because I want to see what somebody else thought about a comic, but I just get the story told back to me.
To be fair maybe I'm expecting too much of your average shitter that would find anything published before Civil War too dated to bother with.
There's this one German guy who makes comfy videos about all kinds of comics - I found him when I was looking for his videos about Morrison's Batman, but he talks about everything, Carl Barks' Disney stuff, to underground comix, to Corto Maltese.

Also found these guys that have made some cool videos when I was looking for stuff about Wally Wood:

If you want insight/analysis on the comics, you're looking in the wrong place. There are few blogs/sites that do cool stuff like annotations, analysis, criticism but in the heap of shit that is comics journalism they are few and far between.
I actually want to write about comics (mainly analyzing the themes of comics) but I really just have no motivation to do so because of how fucking casual the comics audience is and how little discussion some good analysis piece creates. People either lap on these casual friendly videos or some garbage articles about changing the race and gender of established capeshit character or some other shitty article that's shitting on Benis. Fuck comics reader honestly, they don't deserve good things.

care to share some of them? You'd be doing those guys a favor for shilling them and me a favor for helping me.

Also he doesn't write anymore but David Uzumeri did some fantastic work on CA. Read up as much as you can.

Also subscribe to Strip Panel Naked, on comics YouTuber worth a damn.
Recaps are much easier and actually demanded. Most comic 'fans' don't want to read comics, they just want the Wikipedia recap version so that they can talk about the comic on their blog in a fraction of the time.
In depth reviews are much harder because you actually have to put effort in analyzing shit and coming up with and defending your thesis.
Not to mention that barely any comics coming out these days even deserve to be analyzed.
I recently discovered this chap while searching for more youtube channels that are more essay oriented
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbynCFZC_Vg
but besides that theres not much to go around, Im more driven towards the type of videos that will try to woo me into checking out a particular work or franchise
in this aspect Razorfist is quite good when he sticks to comics and music, but he might be off putting to anons who cant stand "politically opinionated metalheads" as someone described him a while ago

so far his videos eased me into Daredevil and The Shadow, his video on battletech is worth checking out also if you like /tg/ material
