What I love is when it shows a character's parents in the past and they're pretty much exactly like them back when they were a kid. Bonus points if there's a huge contrast, like the parent is usually uptight but as a kid is super rebellious.

I liked how they did that in Jackie Chan adventures, there's an episode where Jackie, Jade, and Uncle read about their ancestor in book and they keep on mistelling the story to make it more similar to their own lives and altering characters in it to be more like themselves and people they know.
Though of course the hero of this book actually does look just like Jackie Chan but the same can be said for a lot of Chinese guys
