It's really weird how everyone's glommed onto that one joke.
It didn't work with me but R&M has a a 80% pass rate when it comes to jokes, and several hundreds jokes (foreground and background) an episode, so I still enjoy it.
I think I might enjoy it a lot less if this is going to be a trend and people start spamming the flopped jokes every episode.

Thought it was retarded all that shit out of nowhere in season 2 finale to get resolved in a few minutes. Federation is off Earth Rick council is gone forever. Stupid Bird loving bitch revives the nigga she had almost killed for no fucking reason, and some throwaway sauce joke has become a huge meme when a huge majority never even heard of the shit. I don't even know why they include the fucking Beth and Jerry drama still it's getting outplayed. For that huge hiatus this was a shit ass episode.

The same could be said about pretty much half the jokes/plot points in R&M (mr meeseeks, get schwifty, tiny rick), the show is actively made less appealing by its fanbase

I really don't get why people thought Rick was not going to be out of jail within 5 minutes. You've already watched 2 seasons of the show, how could you not see that coming?
