Also, you're both wrong. While the level of honor killings isn't what you'd call an epidemic, and muslim youth in general are rebellious, honor killings do happen. It's getting lower, mainly because western countries like to come down on that shit with an iron fist, and have agreements with other countries to extradite those guilt, it is still a problem.

Partly because countries keep trying to leave international legal agreements in the name of 'sovereignty', partly because guilt still has to be of 'a reasonable possibility' to extradite, and partly because rural areas in Pakistan and various other countries refuse to fucking budge on the issue.

Additionally, while this is improving in said countries and similar, places like Singapore and the Phillipines are facing new hardline Islamist emergence, which is upsetting the usual religious balance. It won't last in my opinion, mainly because the youth are liberal in terms of tolerance for sexual preferences, mainly because it'll cause a loss of a lot of that sweet sweet tourist money.

I think the issue is that
1) It's one of them real-world issues that comics like these generally tend to gloss over or ignore. Like why hasn't Reed Richards solved cancer or ended world hunger or some shit like that. It's just bad writing to just have Captain America show up to punch ISIS in the dick
2) Making minority villains, especially when hating on that minority is hot takes a special kind of touch. If it's not done JUST right, it's less of a message, and more of a heavy handed WESSA GOTTA STOPA BEING TERRIBLE PEEOPLE lesson that nobody wants to read. For that, people need to know their history, and not just a laundry list of stereotypes.

It's the difference from what makes Barracuda such a great antagonist despite seeingly being a stereotypical thug, and writing a villian called THE THUG who pushes black youths into selling drugs that will turn their victims into a super powered army of addicts that will commit crimes on their behalf. THE THUG also wears baggy clothing, has golden teeth, and uses Ebonics! He also goes on about how The Black Power needs to fight THE MAN! all of the time, and other excuses for his behaviour

3) It's a bit on the nose.
I get the idea of trying to encourage people to consider minority concerns, but I hate reading shit that's too on the nose. If I read a comic that was basically THANKS FOR VOTING IN TRUMP, WHITE PEOPLE, I'd throw that shit out.
Also, there's the question of pushing the concept of "why aren't you doing something about YOUR PEOPLE" onto them.

I work with a lot of young Muslim women.

It probably depends on what you see the Arthur myth as. For me it's a myth of unity, that the goodness and nobleness of man can be brought together and (always temporarily) work to the purpose of something greater. It's also implicit in the myth that no greatness will last forever and sometimes all you're left with is the memory. And it's at such an abstracted time period that it's not bound in up in a particular racial/social/cultural subtype for me.
