Furries aren't allowed on 4chan.

You have to go back.

Zootopia and similar movies would be a lot less impressive if people weren't judging them by special snowflake American animation standards.

Your Name won best screenplay in Japan and Shinkai was nominated for best director.

It's actually a pretty good buddy cop movie with spectacular world building and unprecedented level of detail. If any subtle "messages" seem inferred and triggers an abnormal negative reaction (see various comments above), then the viewer has some personality issues they need to deal with.

Watch it, you won't regret it. :^)

teen romance if i hadn't seen this thousand of times

Well, I rarely watch romances, so I'm not tired of it yet. The movie really gave me the feels.

Also the visuals alone are fantastic.
>>
>>91461188
Two works are not the same thing just because they fall under the very vague category of "teen romance."

>>
I don't really like the Disney formula anymore, last time they impressed me was with Frozen and I don't even like that film
>>
>>91461596

I have no idea what the fuck those are, but saying that teen romance doesn't follow a formula is silly. Guy meets girl, circumstances keep guy and girl from being together, wackiness ensues, guy finally gets girl. The genre is founded on a single, specific type of conflict (i.e. will they won't they?), so structure really can't vary overmuch.
>>
>>91461747
The entire point of listing those was to illustrate that there is no singular formula. In one of them they don't even get together because the girl dies of an illness. In one of them it's not guy meets girl but girl meets girl, and rather than wacky it's melodramatic. In one of them they start dating very quickly.

>>
>>91461827

Changing a single element isn't bucking the formula if you're hitting every other beat. I really don't understand why you're so insistent about this. It's not a value judgement to say that a genre of fiction follows a formula, and you're really not making a strong argument. Of course there's variance in the genre, but the overall structure remains similar because it's integral to the genre definition.

never thought they had a formula, until the documentary. back in the 90 it was musical, the formula. now we got pixar formula, now that they don even need it anymore, they're doing fucking sequels.
>>
>>91461979
>I really don't understand why you're so insistent about this.
No, why are YOU so insistent about this? You are falsely claiming that there exists only a single way of doing a story about teenage love. What do you stand to gain from this claim? What is your agenda?
>>
>>91462040

>You are falsely claiming that there exists only a single way of doing a story about teenage love.

What? I'm saying that the genre follows a formula. It does. Your examples are proof of that.

>What if it's the formula, except with two girls.
>What if it's the formula, but she dies at the end.
>What if it's the formula, but they're dating for most of the story.

You clearly think there's something deeply pejorative about the idea of a structural formula. There isn't. You're being silly.
>>
>>91458167
>Thinking I don't watch animus

I enjoy animus too, I just prefer cartoons.
>>
>>91462085
>I'm saying that the genre follows a formula. It does.
It does not. And it's not even a genre.

>Your examples are proof of that.
You said yourself that you have no idea what any of them are.

Again, the point of the list was to show that there is no singular formula, because all of those are distinct from each other.

>You clearly think there's something deeply pejorative about the idea of a structural formula.
I clearly do not. Stop lying.

>You're being silly.
You're pushing an agenda.
>>
>>91462177

>Again, the point of the list was to show that there is no singular formula, because all of those are distinct from each other.

How are they structurally different?

>You're pushing an agenda.

What possible agenda could I be pushing by arguing with you about the nature of story structures?
>>
>>91462242
>How are they structurally different?
By being structurally different. They are different shows with different premises, stories, elements and tones.

>What possible agenda could I be pushing by arguing with you about the nature of story structures?
I don't know, but the fact is that you are pushing an agenda. Like almost everyone these days.

>premises, stories, elements and tones.

At this point, I have to assume you just have no idea what a narrative structure is in the first place. Great chat. Keeo on keepin' on, friendo.
>>
>>91462384
You are just pushing an agenda. I have no what agenda or why, but you are pushing one. You have decided for some reason that it is strategically important to pretend that there exists only a single possible way of making a teenage romance.

Millennials were a mistake.
>>
>>91462341
If I could just step in here, what agenda do you think anon is pushing, and why? Do you believe there is a plot to make these types of romance stories unpopular? Is there an upcoming web series picking apart these anime that pays this individual to spread contempt on said anime series beforehand? Please explain your reasoning, or at least, your definition of "agenda".

>movie with female protag saying all crimes by (predators) are just caused by racist politics, there's no differences guise
But Judy was considered in the wrong for stereotyping predators, pointing the blame at predators, and Bellwether got sent to prison for trying to make prey the superior of the two.

Nick, and to a lesser extent Gideon, were the guiding lights for the film.

Body swap is like a fucking trend in Korea. How the fuck does anyone think that concept is worthy of a "best screenplay" award unless Japan literally has dick for their movie output?
>>
>>91462496
Only the ones that post /a/ on other boards. Probably because they are to autistic even for /a/ and that's saying something
>>
>>91462497
Your Name is not a Korean movie, and there is far more to storytelling and filmmaking than the general premise of the story or how original it is.
>>
>>91462567
I never said Your Name was Korean, I said the concept has been played to death in Korea. It'd be like if a Canadian animated movie got best screenplay for a generic musical when America has already mastered it. Either Japan has low standards or they just had no movies coming out in 2016.
