DBZ was really inconsistent with how he was on-screen and how he was off-screen. Off-screen Vegeta was apparently someone Bulma could fall in love with. Off-screen Vegeta was someone Goku saw as having the potential for good. Off-screen Vegeta was someone Bulma's parents agreed to let marry their daughter. Off-screen Vegeta suddenly realizes what a dick he has been to his son. It really does take Cell killing his future son for the off-screen version to match the on-screen version.

Batman gets paired with the Green Lantern Ring because of his willpower.

And yeah, I think there were actually encounters between Batman and a Yellow Lantern Ring. (Something related to Darkest Night/Brightest Day, probably others in other universes as well.) The two didn't get along, probably in part because Batman didn't want to be a Lantern and/or didn't want to be associated with the yellow ring, and so it fucked off elsewhere.

Who knows WHEN though, the 8 universes could have lasted for millennium and had chances to build up their Mortal Levels with how absent-minded and easily distracted Zeno could be. Had Goku not reminded him about the Tournament there could have been Eons before he decided to hold it.
