Also you ever notice how characters barely go on the internet in fiction? Whereas most North Americans are on their phones or computers for 40% of the day. It's becoming increasingly unrealistic. But on the other hand, when a comic or show references Facebook or Reddit it just feels cringey.

A cartoon about a guy that balances his crap job, living in a small apartment and occasionally goes out on job interviews looking for a better job. The interviews would be small windows into not always pleasant past events of his life. They would be narrated over with a positive spin or life lesson that would be applicable to the job he was applying for.

The cartoon would be about a brat that always prayed to a Trickster God of Luck and had their way every time something went bad. The show would progress as they grew, and because of the God of Luck, their hubris would grow as well and they become the most insufferable fuckwit known to their own peers. They fall at the end of their adolescence because their peers had enough of their bullshit. The brat would end up physically and mentally ill, and almost ironically, become an unlucky lonely sap who had lost hope in restoring anything that resembles a social life. The opposite of what they had been as a child.
It would be like a more downbeat Moral Orel, but only if Orel was a little shit like Clay and used his religion to justify the shitty things he did.

It'd be a really inspiring story of someone turning their life around, strengthening their relationship, and going to college.

Then minor slip ups began piling up, creating bigger and bigger problems. Eventually slip ups turn to anxiety based self-sabotage. Everything slowly gets worse, but the MC keeps everything from everyone else, not wanting to be seen as a failure and disappointment. They avoid their family, not wanting to be asked questions about how everything is going and having it lie, hiding things from their significant other constantly.

Eventually everything comes to a head, the choices are either an incredibly long road of debt, a joyless life as a disappointment to friends and family, and a much shorter but darker path.
The movie ends on an ambiguous note.
It might do okay.
