Well, first of all, the whole premise is boring. An escapist world full of bright and colorful stuff that is supposed to be cool and fun, but really isn't. And it's always a problem with "anything you wish can come into existence" sort of stuff, it gets boring as soon as you get the gist of it, i.e. very soon. Especially since the first introduction to the world just throws a lot of stuff at us and it doesn't even look good, the designs are not interesting, you can't even remember most of it.

The plot of the episode started generic and then got just random and incoherent, and never got better.

The visuals and animation are fine, although sometimes faces look weird.

Excited because the character were appealing, the designs were different from standard CN fare of the time, and the concept hinted at potential depth. I don't expect pilots to be polished and thoroughly developed.

That said, the person who made this pilot went on to work on nuPPG. I think the results say less about her skills, and more about how careless CN was in assembling the crew for that show. Their talents were wasted on something that was never their style.
