I don't think /co/ has ever had a more dedicated storytimer than you, Preach.

Also, is this the first book Ellis quit because he couldn't be edgy enough?

I think. Is pretty dark for a gen 13 spiin off.
Ellis was good, but Michael Heisler really did it for me. He turned it into some of the best character work I've seen in comics, up there with Wildcats.

I got in to DV8 because of this issue. I had a nite just like this minus all the powers and dismemberment and shit. But when I read this issue it was one of those " OMG, THEY'RE TALKING TO ME" moments. And I read it until they canceled it.
>>91313869
Word. It was one of Wildstorm's best series.

DV8 was a guilty pleasure. I knew it was capeshit, but I would pick it up anyways.

Rise
The fuck is going on?
One of the worst things Ellis ever wrote
Once Heisler started writing, especially once Al Rio took over art, it became lowkey one of Wildstorm's best books though.
>>91325260
I am of the exact opposite idea. Under Ellis, the book is pure edge, but it's kind of what you expcet given the concept, and it's Ramos art what really brings it down more than anything. It's not great, but it's unique.
The later run is mediocre 90s cape-stuff, the same kind of thing you'd find in all X-Men books of the time.
>>91325207
It will get better later.

Emma.
>>91310806
that's a nice line.
>>91310596
Ellis is such a self-important douche. I'd say he represents every negative stereotype about the British Invasion if Millar didn't do it better
