I really like Korra and I occasionally cosplay as her. I just really like her overall design and voice/personality. That said, I really wish her show was handled by a more competent creative team.

The reason why I loved her as a kid but hated character like Mandy from Billy and Mandy was that she was held responsible for her actions. Mandy was always in the right and everything turned out in her favor. Shego was the villain and fucked up a lot and even suffered slapstick from time to time.

I think my problem with most female characters is that male writers don't want to give them equal treatment as male characters. I'm not talking about action scenes or any of that bullshit but rather they don't want to hold female characters responsible for their actions. Often times girls get a free pass for being a bitch or an asshole and never have to change as a character over a series. I know they probably think it's creating good "role models" for little girls but all it's doing is making them unrelatable. Nearly all the characters I wanted to be as a child were male because I couldn't see myself in any of the female characters.

When I was younger, I was a fan of Kim Possible and Sam Grayson from Danny Phantom. Probably because Sam was actually interesting and she had a personality.

Man this question just made me realize that I don't really have many favorite female characters. Especially /co/ ones.

I really like Jenny Sparks because she's a flawed cynical person that still tries to do her best at the end of the day. I tend to like characters that have strong convictions, are willing to fight till the end for what they believe in and at the same time have a lot of flaws that they need to overcome. Characters with a lot of internal conflict. It seems like it's mostly male characters that are written like this. In an attempt to make "strong female characters" creators just make these lifeless dolls with no real flaws that are just good at punching. I just can't get attached to them.

Darn, I actually had to think about this. If someone had asked me when I was a kid, I probably would have said Belle.

Nowadays, I have so many favorite female /co/ characters, it would be hard to pick one as a sole, singular favorite. With that being said, if I had to pick one that stands out particularly among my choices, I'd go with Lapis Lazuli. Why? Because she clearly struggles with her past and isn't treated like a bad person for not being comfortable with her suffering. At the same time, she doesn't blame everyone else for her issues and does make a genuine effort to better herself. I wish I could be like her.

Raven, and I won't deny that it started entirely on the '03 series, although I've had the chance to read some of her comic counterparts.

I just think she's a good character, whether she's the snarky dark one, or simply the socially-inept girl, with an interesting backstory and powers, that give way for many more interesting tales than just "DADDY'S HOME", yet are sadly rarely picked up.

Also, legs. Legs for days, and covering them up is criminal.
