I watched a documentary on the alt story line (the shock collars thing). Apparently, they changed this because the viewer would see them and hate zootopia because of how bad preds are treated, this scene being the final nail in the coffin. They wanted to get the point of "preds can be bad" without the point of torturing them with the collars.

Maybe I'm too much of an emotional cripple, but the only times I've ever cried are when my dog died and when my mother was diagnosed with cancer.

But this... in the quiet, early-morning hours as I sat wrapped in blankets and surrounded by the soft glow of the tv, I came damned close.

Seems like a lot of people here cried during the Rick and Morty episode yesterday.
>>
>>91239993
Yep, this.

Seeing people die of old age hits me really hard because I lived next door to my great grandparents in their final years. I was blessed to know them for so many years, but seeing them so rapidly deteriorate in less than a year leading to their deaths made seeing old characters dying kinda rough for me.

That aside, I'm kind of tough for any media to crack. Multiple things can choke me up, but few ever make me shed so much as a single tear.

The movie's so jovial and upbeat, even when dealing with Mary's shitty life. It took me longer than I care to admit to realize that it was definitely an adult film. Nothing stabs my heart like depressing things being portrayed in a humorous light, and the narrator's cheerful apathy towards the death of everyone Mary cares about is just... it's fucked up, man.
>>91240968
Before this movie, I had only seen Phillip Seymour Hoffman in The Big Lebowski. He was really funny in that. I was not prepared for how amazing and moving his performance would be in a stop motion film about pen pals.

This movie got fucked over with its direct to DvD release. I doubt it would have won any awards (despite deserving them), but at least it would have been nominated.

It was pretentious, but a kind of pretentious that actually works I mean. The show is always very pretentious about itself and actually succeds because it is that good, but nevertheless if you realise how pretentious it is then it gets a lot less powerful. At least, this was what happened to me on the two last episodes.

Now, yes that scene is grossly overrated. The show has many other good moments, but that one scene is just too hyped up. I won't say that it wasn't gourgeus or powerful, but it just isn't tearworthy for me.
>>
>>91243094
And that is a fair argument, though I feel Jupiter Jazz is a far worse case being artsy and obtuse just for the hell of it. At least the finale build upon pre-existing elements and had characters chasing after things we could follow.

And I really believe what makes the last scene work so well is the framing; killing off your protagonist after a genuinely senseless battle of old grudges and bitterness where he puts his past to rest, slowly panning up over the city as dawn breaks and emotional music swells is a good way to end something like that. It ain't perfect, but it's a tonally perfect cap and beautifully "shot", so to speak.
>>
>>91243094
Not him, but I think the words you're looking for there is overly-dramatic.
Pretentious implies the illusion of depth in this context, where there is none.
I would agree that the show overplayed a few things that were not thoroughly setup, Green Bird being a good example where you're basically getting the setup at the exact same moment as you're getting the pay off, which at least on a first watch doesn't work as well as it could. It has a giant, dramatic scene that wasn't thoroughly earned yet, but it did have a reason to be, it had merit, and as such (at least by my definition) I don't think "pretentious" is a fair description.

Other than that, as I think I said, I agree.

I got choked up when Hinata "died" during the Pain arc. (Don't judge me)

I knew they were gonna bullshit her back to life or pull some gay shit, i really with they didn't though it would have been an absolutely incredible way to end the character but nooooo she's too popular to ever ACTUALLY harm.

She gets impaled by like 10 poles through the chest and then her surrounding area gets blown up by a nuclear bomb and somehow she's "faint but still breathing".

Such a gay end to such a great arc, they should have just killed off half the cast and left it at that.

The music that it closes out on isn't fair. The impact of the scene followed by that just isn't fair.

yeah from two things recently actually. First is Over the Garden Wall, the scene where Wirt finds Greg becoming a part of the tree and the music starts getting louder. Seeing some realize what they have done for being shitty always hurts me.

Second one was the Regular Show finale. the feels started with David Bowie's Heroes, and then I watched them all grow up through the song. All of a sudden a heap of repressed motions hit me like a landslide. The show started when I was in middle school, something to watch with all my friends. And when the show ended, I realized we were about the same age as Mordecai and Rigby in the beginning of it. And then the fact that all those times were gone and not coming back my emotions returned and destroyed me. I cried myself to sleep.

I'm a pussy.

"Let's watch her DIE together, SHALL we" in friendly uncle Ed Wynn's voice
Then the serenity prayer

I would have posted it but I assumed someone else already did

I don't really cry over fictional medei, or even much real life stuff, but I'd be lying if I said this >>91239893 and the ending of Cowboy Bebop didn't get to me a little.

I would have loved it. Don't get me wrong, the final product was a solid 4/5 kids flick, but for all the praise it gets it wasn't particularly ambitious. The movie's original premise may have been a lot more polarizing, but I have no doubt it would have been far more interesting.
Then again, this is Disney, and playing it safe is their company motto.

This. This got me pretty damn good. Any sad stuff involving mothers gets me pretty bad.

Also, pic related (the uncensored version, mind you). Shit makes me cry like a baby everytime. So fucking brutal for your soul.

interesting doesn't equal good.
in one scene you're supposed to laugh at their mysery, and in the next one they tell you to feel sad about it. I mean, who does that?

I do bieleve the drama around that movie would be glorious though.

So far, WALL-E, is the only movie -live action or animated- to have ever moved me emotionally to the point of tears. I didn't cry but I was damn near there, especially when Eve rebuilt him after his "death" and his personality wasn't back.

Watching this after my younger brother died was rough. I was off-and-on okay until it got to the scene where Yancy names his son after Fry, that's the point I couldn't deal with it anymore.

It's the only time I've cried to a cartoon, too.

>especially when Eve rebuilt him after his "death" and his personality wasn't back.

Fucking this. I knew it wasn't going to stick, I knew we'd get the Pixar happy ending where everything is great forever, but the amount of devastated grief they managed to cram into EVE with almost zero dialogue was fucking impressive as hell, and one of the reasons I hold WALL-E to be Pixar's best films.

Moral orel
Season 3 and the second half of season 2.

I cried watching treasure planet because my dad never talks to me much. Jim and Silver's voice acting just fucking gets me.

You're gonna rattle the stars, you are.
