Hey everybody, it's time for the third annual Chronological Mignolaverse storytime!!! For those who missed it in the previous years here's the concept, I've gone through every piece of the Mike Mignola's shared universe of comics and put it in chronological order page by page and in some cases panel by panel.
Something new this year is a annotated timeline I've been working on
https://www.sutori.com/story/mignolaverse
>>91200754
>I've finally read through all of the Mignolaverse
>just in time for Chronological
oh boy
>>91200754
Hell yeah!!!!!
Sorry I was getting all the images lined up
>>91200772
It's gonna be fun on a bun
>>91200754
>Bock of Enoch
Not canon.
>>91200916
Every religious text is canon to the Mignolaverse
>>91200754
Fuck yeah
>>91200906
>>91200929
Created a cosmic abomination and immediately tried to kill it the watchers really sucked
>>91200754
You are the best anon of this board.
Seriously.
I wonder when we will reach Black Flame origin and the alien.
>>91201255
They didn't create the abomination, all Anum did was make a giant dragon and tried to bring it to life. He had no idea that it would be evil.
>>91201301
I'm just doing my bit.
>>91201430
Oh Shit top right is the symbol Memnan Saa uses, I love rereading this and catching small stuff like that
Time for some Galll Dennar!!!
Fuck yeah, good to see this continue
>>91200754
oh shit I finally catch the start of one
It's always great when your home town shows up in the Mignolaverse
>>91201799
Stick with it for the long haul! Almost 9000 pages now.
>>91201339
we really need to see some more of Hyperberum
Who created Earth in the mignolaverse? Is it ever addressed?
>>91201934
I would love to have a story about Thoth being tempted by Hecate
>>91201998
God did.
>>91202022
Are you a 4-H alumni, Blake?
>>91201736
best boy enters the scene
>>91202104
Nope.
>>91200906
Fuck you dragons. Fuck you a decillion times. How did you likeJohan fucking annhilating one of you with this soul? Bet that hurt you unjustified douchebags
>>91202167
I wonder what it must have been like for the Ogdru Hem to watch a Jahad die. It'd be like watch God die.
>>91202131
I'm sorry but Enos is best boy
>>91202197
"Oh nooooo, we don't have carte blanche to screw over the humans anymore this so unfa-" and they turn to stone, cause that's all they deserve for being jerks for no reason. So, will the other Jahads come to Earth? Cause one of them was kinda annihilated by just one guy
I think the only thing I have left to read in the Mignolaverse is the latest Witchfinder and maybe some of the prequel Hellboy.
>>91202623
Oh City of the Dead was good, there's a page from it coming up in this thread
>>91203100
oh sure, and those voices totally aren't just demons seducing you
See you in like 7000 pages, Gall.
>>91203378
Nice
Glad to attend one of these finally.
Gonna try to track down Plague of Frogs HCs at the next con I attend.
>>91203662
The one thing I didn't like about Hellboy in Hell is there was no sign of his mother.
>>91201539
I know. I'm re-reading Abe: The Drowning. There's one of the daggers Johann used on Daimio, and the chalice those little jerks carry their master in is the same that contained Anum.
>>91203743
Something about this art style is very homoerotic
>>91203771
The Lipu dagger made from the statue of Durga
>>91203775
It was orginally a work of fan fiction by a Latvain Mignola fan.
>>91203916
no you gotta go aum, not omm. omm starts near the middle of the vocal range while aum starts at the beginning
>>91203866
Was it made out of the statue? I thought the statue just told a monk to make some sweet knives.
>>91204048
I thought the statue told him to make one from each of it's arms but I might be remembering in correctly.
>>91202477
Fatality!
>>91204152
You must have misremembered "for" as "from". Shame on you!
>>91203026
These stories are so interconnected everything can tie to anything
>>91204476
The other day we had a thread talking about Howards and how the BPRD agents started modifying their jackets to have his sword and it struck me that the logo could actually be based on Gall Dennar's sword from the start. Centuries and centuries after Gall Dennar dies Edward Grey finds his sword in and uses it to fight evil, The Professor is a huge Edward Grey fanboy and owns several of his journals where Grey was sure to have written about his sword.
>>91203185
>>91203208
Wait what?
>>91203237
We need more hot demon lovers
>>91204644
The power was too much for him and he died.
>>91203484
Boston tea party was blocked by vampires what a crazy world
>>91204826
nah that already happened, this was a copy cat tea party because people were drunk and bored, the best reasons to do anything
>>91203502
They really need a costume rediesign that doesn't make you look like a gay fish
>>91204991
I think its amusing and a bit realistic that a secret society would have a goofy costume for their speaker, I mean there's precedence for it in reality.
>>91205088
is it possible to get a copy of dunn's secret history of the world or is all lost to hearsay?
>>91205080
Yeah but at least try too spice it funny they're a bunch of high society people acting like jackasses in wearing fish costumes funny because most of what they preach is true
>>91205135
The Professor probably has a copy.
Swords back.
>>91204181
>>91204214
Man Frankenstein can not catch a break anywhere I've actually finished reading he 70s marvel series and finish Bernie wrightson Alove Alive (fucking shame he'll never finish it) and it's amazing how good they all potray him as a monster whose constantly being tormented but you'd think something like Frankenstein would be a big deal on Hellboy he's literally life made from death
>>91205242
Wonderful pacing.
>>91204181
Did Jesus exist on Hellboy, and that priest is retarded for immediately attacking the monster like an asshole
>>91205311
calling it a sword doesn't seem right
its more like a glaive but with half the shaft length its meant to have
>>91204736
Is the image a Little blurry or is it just me
>>91205434
Why do you suppose there's no body hair?
>>91205387
There is a lot of evidence that Jesus did really exist in the Mignolaverse but he never outright shows up.
>>91205426
But even when the Hyperborean's were using it it wasn't on a pole, it's a weird thing.
>>91205480
Some of these images are smaller than others, looks like.
>>91205497
Its there, just not really visible with the art style.
Note the jaggy shading on arms and legs.
>>91205542
>>91205480
You have to remember some of these are really old scans, the Mignolaverse has been around for a long time now.
>>91205569
The center of his chest looks positively shiny.
>>91205601
I guess he just doesn't have chest hair then? I mean you can see arm and leg hair so it's not that far fetched. I know a guy with gorilla-tier arm hair but a bare chest and can't grow a beard at all.
Alternatively, his chest was shaved for the autopsy so they could poke around it better.
>>91205660
That might be good reasoning; it also looks kinda like they shaved his dick.
>>91205748
>tfw I always read gross british womens voices as the one mud peasant from Monty Python and the Holy Grail
>>91205845
funny, I read them as the old women from the Hell's Grannies sketch
>It's all about the violence
>and the prestige
>mainly
>we like pullin' the 'eads of sheep
>and teacakes!
>yesss
>>91206121
Are you going at it again tomorrow anon? Also anyway to contact you? I wanted to send you something as a thanks for getting me into comics when you did the first chronological mignolaverse threads. I lost a pic of your twitter, you got instagram?
>>91206213
Yep, I'm gonna start another thread tomorrow morning probably.
And no I don't have a twitter or instagram.I have a tumblr where I post wallpapers I make though, http://comradewallpapers.tumblr.com/
>>91203400
>>91203502
after looking at your timeline, you appear to have skipped some stuff that occurs between these two points
>>91206416
Yes, there is a lot of things that occur in those 200 some years but most of that is supplemental things, things that were mentioned but never outright shown or things that are only flash backed to in single panels and such. After I complete the basic outline I'm going to go back through and the missing things using this older timeline as a helping guide
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4MMj9x9kl6iY3ZZR3o4dTVCa00/view
>>91206479
There's also things before I want to add like St. Leonard and stuff
>>91206416
Oh wait, you're talking about the Gustav Strobel stuff and the original Witchfinder. I accidentally skipped the Henry Hood stuff and the Gustav Strobel stuff only works storywise in the context of the story it takes place in.
>>91205565
You'd think they'd invest a lot more into supernatural study In Hellboy earth if stuff like witches, ancient gods and hell exist there should at least be an entire public field dedicated to researching it
>>91206632
>there should at least be an entire public field dedicated to researching it
The BPRD?
>>91206714
can't help but see Mr Smiley in that third panel
>>91206659
I mean more public and Like I dunno an actual college course it's just that supernatural forces play a huge part of Hellboy watt so you'd think they'd try to study and document through any means and make it more available to the public
>>91206616
Jesus how many cults are there In Hellboy, what does it take to join one anyways I bet there a open door policy since so many people are in them
>>91206784
It's easy to convert people when your gods are real
>>91206765
Well it is too a point, there are tons of professors in paranormal fields in the mignolaverse and even occult books gain extreme popularity.
>>91206784
Man there are like 7 that are just offshoots of the HBR. And then there was the KKK/Ogdru Hem cult in the latest issue of the Visitor
>>91206843
I wonder how half these cults started anyways
>>91206923
spiritually unfulfilled rich assholes looking for a deeper meaning that makes them feel special, either as servants of a higher power or as keepers of forbidden secrets
>>91206923
Hems talking to people or dumbasses that found something occultic
>look at dem Mags.
>>91207041
I was so distracted by Mags that I forgot to say be sure to look out for these guys when they show up later.
>>91200754
Hey OP, I hate to be 'That Guy', but do you have a place we could download the previous stuff as I missed out on the previous threads and I would really like to read the Mignoaverse from begining to finish.
>>91207250
This is the first thread but here is last year. Be warned though, there have been numerous revisions since.

>>91201278
You fucking let me down, Shonchin.
Gotta depend on based German ghosts to get anything done around here.
That's it for tonight guys, next storytime will be tomorrow morning around 8:00 Pacific
>>91207640
thanks op
>>91207285
Thanks OP. You are awesome.
>>91207668
>>91207675
Just doing my bit.
Happy april fools' day guys.
>>91205532
It seemed more like a focus for their vril power than a blade, based on the times we've seen it or weapons like it flare up. The fact that it could be used as a blade was secondary to its real purpose.
Like a bayonet on a rifle. It's there, it has its value, but if you call your rifle a spear because it has a knife on the end, you're focusing on the wrong part.
>>91206087
>She saw his eventual fate.
Poor man.
Destiny is a bitch in this series.
>>91208389
Howards/Gall Dennar use it as a sword and unless we get a Hyperborean story that clarifies the name calling it Howards sword is just simpler.
>>91208541
There's a saying from old Mignolaverse threads that always stuck with me. "Everyone you love will die or go mad"
>>91207064
>Simpler times
>When I just had to hunt werewolves out of bloody revenge
>None of this hollow earth bullshit
>>91207285
>>91207301
That's the same type of visuals that Grey uses with his sorcery, when he's a... flayed lich thing. Which, since this is actually Strobl's ghost fucking with Gilfred, implies that he's using infernalism... which is especially odd, since Strobl's own infernal powers were limited in the same time period.
Because Grey had become an infernal creature himself when he was stitched back together, was closer to the source of it since he was actually in hell, or is Strobl just making shit up, and Grey (or the spectre of his destiny?) is actually powering the ceremony, here? Oh, or Strobl isn't anywhere as skilled a sorcerer as he claims. Which seems fitting, considering the shit we've seen real heavyweights pull off.
>>91207609
Considering how much they fuck up at every step, the Heliopic Brotherhood really pulled off some quick dirty work here.
Not sure why they killed the medium though. You'd think they'd try to science at her instead.
>>91200754
>Something new this year is a annotated timeline I've been working on
>https://www.sutori.com/story/mignolaverse
>1947, Hellboy tries pancakes for the first time.
kek
>>91206784
Let's see...
Heliopic Brotherhood of Ra.
Oannes Society.
Osiris Club.
Project Ragnarok, which eventually turned into Rasputin's cult.
Smaller cults exist too, but those are the big ones.
There's also Hecate's cult, which is very informal/decentralized, but her worshipers are all over the place and found through all of time. Mostly just ruining things for everyone, but Hecate is one of the few "god" entities that doesn't intentionally fuck over her followers and actually follows through on giving out power.
>>91202215
Just what was Hecata(Hecate)'s deal, anyway? Was she one of the Ogdru Hem, or a near-equivalent of the Ogdru Jahad, or just another creation of the Watchers, or of God itself, or...?
>>91202574
>>91202627
>those fuckin' kids
>I swear to thoth
>>91204644
He wanted to help but the power wasn't meant for him.
>>91209846
That's a good question.
It sort of seems like she's another creature of the "Darkness" that entered into the mud statue that was the Ogdru Jahad. While the Ogdru tried to conquer and destroy through force, Hecate exists to bring decadence and chaos. Actions which eventually, and inevitably it seems, lead to the Ogdru returning to the world.
But she also is definitely her own person, where as the Ogrdu come across as more like a primal force. She describes her origins to Grey, sometime after she's bound into a grave, and her supposed birth is rather unnatural.
>>91204644
There was power in the bones of the Hyperboreans, a trace of the Vril. If he was more knowledgeable he might have been able to harness it towards some good. All he managed to do was bring the skulls near a place still potent with latent Vril energy, which animated the dead Hyperboreans enough for them to recover their skulls and then... I guess leave for Hyperberum? The shock or the power was too much for him and he died.
He said it himself, "our flesh, yours and mine, is too weak to contain the Vril."
>>91201339
I wonder if these guys eventually became the blue aliens we see later on.
>>91210758
Hey, nice. I didn't actually connect the prayers and the ayylmaos seen with some metaphysical mechanisms later
